Not one but two “athletes” were killed “in competition” at Los Alamitos Saturday. In the 2nd race, Perky Cowgirl went down and was subsequently euthanized. Later on the day’s entertainment, it was Midnight Huckabee. Although the chart for the latter said he was carted off by ambulance, CHRB spokesperson Mike Marten disclosed that Midnight “immediately died from injuries sustained when he fell.” Both horses were but two years old – equine babies. They are kills 22 and 23 for Los Alamitos this year.
I also wonder what happened to the “winner” (big quotes there) of Race 10 on Los Al Horse Hell’s big Death Night. Judging by the hack-job made of the video, I’m guessing poor baby Laredeaux went down soon after the wire — thus denying his loving connections the opportunity to get their ugly photo in the winner’s circle while he was being vanned off.
City News Service is now reporting his apparent injury, yet he hasn’t appeared on the (highly-credible, haha) CHRB Vet List.
Anyone know his condition/whereabouts?
This is another one of those areas of the law not being enforced in this despicable business of Animal Cruelty.
