This for 4-year-old Jungfrau at Belmont Saturday, in the words of the Gaming Commission: “On August 24, horse in severe distress and declining health was euthanized by attending vet.” “Severe distress and declining health,” but from what? Well, the Commission added this, almost as a by-the-way: “Horse last galloped on track August 23” – the day before – “then was found with a swollen left forelimb.” Mystery solved.
This is horseracing.
Sadly, the obfuscation of the truth is present in many in many industries today as well as racing.
I swear that anyone hired in communications for the racing industry must have to pass a test on their ability to obfuscate and double-speak. How else to explain such an industry-wide ability to cloud and confuse in order to conceal the facts?
Disgusting and despicable cruelty and a depraved insensitivity to the suffering the horses must endure which is caused by these disgusting, despicable, depraved horse-exploiting, horse-abusing, horse-killing vile people; this is what they call the “Sport of Kings” in America.
I worked for a trainer for a short time way back in February of 1977 as a groom. I was responsible to take care of three geldings and one young mare. Her name was Flying Jennifer and she had a swollen left knee. It wasn’t anything to kill her over. The trainer didn’t kill her for it or because of it.
This incident of euthanizing a 4-year-old filly/mare because she had a swollen limb is not the whole story.
What did they do to her to cause such an extreme amount of stress that it was determined (?) that she was in declining “health” so much so that they could appear to ignore her condition for several hours and then decide that they could nonchalantly or casually find her in this “euthanize-able” condition???
This kind of “reporting” by the New York State Gaming Commission makes me think someone should nonchalantly find these “people” with their jaws broken or something that would affect their “health”…
Galloped the day before she was put down.
The statement says, “Then was found with a left swollen forelimb” When was she “found” – when was “then”, that day, the next day??
The poor mare was left to suffer for 24 hrs., at the least…and these people know it!!!.
What kind of vet. goes along with such blatant cruelty
