This, says the Gaming Commission, for Samay at Finger Lakes: “While running in the 4th race Aug 7, horse was pulled up [while ‘appearing in distress,’ according to the chart] and was vanned off – LF suspensory injury. Found deceased in stall Aug 21.” Now, consider this: Samay was nine years old, and this was his 54th race. Not only that, ’twas his second race in eight days, fourth in a little over a month – all of the cheap $5K claiming variety. The complicit bastards: owners Victor and Nancy Salvato, trainer Ilmar Loaiza, and, of course, breeder Michael Lecesse for creating this poor animal in the first place.

Yes, and this industry caters to the bottom feeders. Their so-called “integrity” means they keep their dirty secrets to themselves as much as they can and that’s what Ms. Lazarus is paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to do, to the best of my knowledge and belief. Thanks, but no thanks, thanks to the Horseracing “Integrity” and “Safety” Act/ Authority. It’s a way to milk more money out of the prolonged abuse and killing of horses.

Injured on the 7th, found dead two weeks later? From what cause? This doesn’t explain the death at all. Don’t the veterinarians have to determine cause of death? Finger Lakes is populated with bottom feeders who prefer to live from hand to mouth on the meager earnings they wring out of these poor horses, instead of actually working for a living. The worst!!
This deplorable abuse and neglect is no surprise in this egregiously cruel industry where people “dream” of themselves being connected to a horse that wins a race.
This disgusting depravity must be put on trial.
