  1. I think it would irk the people who run the Mountaineer racing facility if several people were standing outside holding up signs to bring attention to what they actually do there.
Signs that resemble headstones with the name of the horse, the birth date and the date the horse was killed are very influential in my opinion. The headstone type signs really drive the point home about the so-called “safety” of horse racing.
Hopefully, the people who play the slot machines which provide the subsidies to prop up racing would be able to connect the dots and stop patronizing the casinos if they have any conscience at all.

  2. It wouldn’t matter at mountaineer. On a typical night there’s only like 20 people there, and most of them are stable employees.
Even the turnout for the WV Derby the last 2 years has been pretty low, thank goodness. They are truly a prime example of the only reason they’re in business anymore is because of tax payers and casino funds.
Charles Town was more hopping the last time I was there. Plus they actually have a multi story hotel overlooking the track. A protrest there would be more noticeable.

  3. Is anyone protesting peacefully against the abuse and killing of horses at the West Virginia racetracks? I live too far away to go there myself but I would like to hear from someone who has attempted holding signs near Mountaineer and Charles Town.
    The carnage there is horrendous!
