A Kill at Los Al; “Lame in Post Parade”; Whip Marks

Xpensive, says the CHRB, was killed at Los Alamitos Thursday. For now, all we have is “musculoskeletal.” He was three years old and had been put to the whip nine times.

In the final race at Delaware Wednesday, 4-year-old Wicked Kitten was scratched by the regulatory vet for being “lame in the post parade.” Which means, again, that either she was injured on the spot or her exploiters brought her to the track that day already lame.

On the harness end, this at Ocean Downs (Maryland) Aug 11: “Justin Vincent is suspended from driving from Aug 19th through Aug 21st for causing visible whip marks while driving Oodles Of Gold.” The 4-year-old Oodles, by the way, is slated to be raced again (at Ocean Downs) tomorrow. The scheduled driver? The not-yet-serving-his-suspension Vincent. You can’t make this stuff up.

  1. It happened in the Garden of Eden long before America came into what we now know it as; and Horseracing Wrongs makes the effort to be a voice for the horses as the sentient beings that they are.

  2. I ponder the question : where and when did America heave her conscience into the garbage bin? The “Sport of Kings” is nothing more than sin dragging cripples to the wire.” Alydar murdered for insurance money, drugs and doping resulting in the deaths of 10,623 horses, and no reaction from the institutions of law who are supposed to safeguard justice and moral integrity in our society?

Thoroughbred racing has deteriorated into a field of blood and murder for horses of all ages. A nation that permits savagery against defenseless horses deserves the rage and wrath of all of heaven and earth. How can any nation that produced Wilbur and Orville Wright, Abe Lincoln, Sitting Bull, James Madison, Dr. Tom Dooley, Caesar Chavez, et al stay idle and silent when the most craven and despicable of crimes are imposed on horses?.

  3. There is no live racing at Ocean Downs on Monday, August 19th or Tuesday, August 20th. I can imagine that they are all laughing about the suspension,
including the horse-abusing driver, Justin Vincent.
Hahahaha… What a funny joke… The abuse continues… So what is the horse going to do about it besides just take the abuse…?!

  4. Black Caviar dead in Australia from laminitis. She had just given birth to Snitzel baby. It’s the day before her birthday. For those of us who are interested in this information.

  5. It’s very clear, as well as very disturbing, that the owners, the trainers, the jockeys in flat track racing, the drivers in harness racing and all of the commissioners and stewards don’t put the welfare of the horses first.
It’s always about what the people want and to hell with the horses. The horses are a commodity and can be replaced (in some cases). How difficult would it be to replace a whip-wielding driver like Justin Vincent with all of his whip-wielding experience…?
Isn’t that so clever of the stewards or the commissioners to allow a horse to be raced every Sunday and with a driver who is known to be brutally abusive to the horses and suspend him on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday…?
They just proved how vile they are.
