In the 1st at Aqueduct yesterday, Login Required collapsed after the wire; says the Gaming Commission, “horse died, unknown cause at this time.” He had just turned four.
Four races later, same track, Authorize, says the chart, fell [the Gaming Commission used ‘collapsed’ again] then was euthanized on the course.” He was five.
That’s two kills at one track, within five races. Proud, New York Racing Association? The cowards there, by the way, scrubbed both of those kills from their race replays.
But that’s not all for NY. Training at Finger Lakes earlier in the day, Celtic Currency broke a shoulder and was euthanized. She was three and being prepped for her first race.
Well, you know she gets paid enough money to buy a house that costs over $250,000 and pay cash for it to say whatever tickles her fancy regardless of the truth or the facts. This is how the industry rolls; cause harm and death to horses and then deny and deflect. Just what everyone needs — another group to spread falsehoods on how much abuse is inflicted on the horses.
Uh-oh. That’s incredibly bad news for HISA CEO Lisa Lazarus, who’s incredibly proud of how her incredibly beloved and incredibly respected organization has now made Thoroughbred racing so incredibly SAFE.
