11-Year-Old Killed at Cal Expo

While it is true that Standardbreds are not killed as often as their Thoroughbred and Quarterhorse cousins, they are indeed killed. But of more import, life on the harness circuit is just as cruel and mean; in fact, based solely on length of servitude – which can last up to 10 years and beyond – one could make the argument that harness racing is worse. California’s first Standardbred kill of 2024 is a good case in point. The obscenely-named Imma Tank was felled training at Cal Expo yesterday. He was 11 years old and slated to be raced, again, on Sunday. That poor, poor boy.

  1. Crappy people. After a life of servitude, this is the thanks poor Imma Tank got.

  2. Causing harm and death to horses is an abomination to God. These people should be arrested and jailed.
