“Injury occurred near finish [on] sloppy track. Horse crossed wire [after ‘winning’] and pulled up with [multiple] fractures.” Chrome’s was four years old.

“Suffered a catastrophic injury and was euthanized.” Hauling was two years old and coming off her first race.
Foot Rub Love, Jul 15, Belterra R
“Occurred pulling up after race: [multiple] fractures with failure of suspensory.” Foot Rub was six years old. This was her 60th race – but 4th in a little over a month. Poor girl.

“Horse was humanely euthanized after unknown illness.” Lindy’s was two years old and being prepped for her first race.
Morestride, Jul 20, Thistledown R
“Horse fractured RF ankle at 1/8 pole.” Morestride was five years old.

“Sudden death while finishing training mile.” Noble was four years old.
Mobil Solution, Jul 26, Thistledown S
“Horse was fine yesterday evening; found dead in stall this morning.” Mobil was eight years old and had been raced 53 times, most recently six days prior.

“Horse broke down during race 3.” It’s Your Call was six years old.

“Sustained multiple fractures to the left front.” Mayan was five years old.

“Went down post race; whinnied and was breathing rapidly. [After receiving multiple meds and chest compressions], she was pronounced dead approximately six minutes after initial presentation.” Habo was six years old, and this was her 44th race. The chart, by the way, said she “labored to the wire,” 21 lengths back.

“Was galloping and fell near the 3/4 pole – died acutely.” Casino was three years old and being prepped for his first race.

“Horse broke down during morning work.” Masons was two years old and being prepped for his first race.

“Pulled up after crossing the wire: [multiple] comminuted fractures with suspensory failure.” Lada was three years old.

“Fell at the 5/16 pole; sustained an open [through the skin] fracture to the LF cannon and was euthanized on the track.” Outpost was three years old.
Secret Fix, Sep 7, Thistledown T (died Sep 9)
“Horse returned [with] fracture on 9/7. Found sweating at 3 am [9/9]; temp went up to 106. Horse died around 4:15 am.” Secret was five years old.

“Pulled up and vanned for further evaluation. Radiographs revealed [multiple] comminuted fractures. Euthanized.” Rushin was two years old.

“Sustained [multiple] fractures and was euthanized after surgical consultation.” Constitutional was five years old.

“On Sep 15, was shipped from Hawthorne to Belterra to race. [He] sustained multiple injuries in the trailer to his face, eye, and legs. On Sep 24, [he] began shaking and went down in his stall. He died shortly after.” Modifier was four years old.
Slated to Win, Oct 15, Northfield S
“On Oct 6, animal developed edema in all four distal limbs, fever (103.6 F) and anorexia. Clinical signs of laminitis present in both front feet. Horse continued to decline, bloodwork results worsened. Oct 15, developed diarrhea [and] rectal prolapse. Euthanized.” Slated was seven years old.

“Horse fractured femur in gate.” Carol’s was seven years old.

“Horse fractured ankle at wire.” Factum’s was three years old.

“Horse fractured both knees around 1/2 pole.” Little was five years old.

“Horse fell over fallen horse [above] and suffered catastrophic injury.” Three Point was four years old.

“Sudden death while ponying 3rd race.” Duncan was 15 years old.
