The 2nd at Laurel yesterday, according to the chartwriter: “Cloudy Night tripped and fell over [a] fallen rider, sustained a catastrophic injury due to the fall and was euthanized.” She was two years old; ’twas her 4th time under the whip. The day, however, was not a total loss for owner/trainer Charles Frock, for prior to sustaining that catastrophic injury, Cloudy had finished 7th, “earning” $300 for Frock on her way out the door.
This is horseracing.
The vileness of forcing two-year-olds to run under saddle carrying a whip-wielding rider never stops being sickening. The outcomes of this type of cruelty to horses is very predictable when the information is right there in plain view.
Cloudy Night #2stumbled out of the gate very badly. Maybe that contributed to the issue here.
