Through a FOIA request to the California Horse Racing Board, I have obtained the following details on some of that state’s kills this year.
Merit Song, Feb 11, Santa Anita R
“Catastrophic fetlock breakdown with fractures of P1 and P2 bones and ligament rupture.” Also: “osteochondral disease [both hind legs].” Merit was two years old.
Midnight Vow, Apr 5, Santa Anita S
“Horse appeared fine in stall on April 4 at 7:00 pm…found dead in stall on April 5 at 3:35 am.” Midnight was just three years old.
Crazy Dreams, Apr 29, Golden Gate R
“[Multiple: at least five] open, complete, displaced fractures; [multiple] complete ligament ruptures; complete tendon rupture; rupture of fetlock joint capsule.” Also: “osteochondral disease [leg that broke], cartilage erosion [other front leg].” Crazy was three years old.
An Agent Mistake, May 4, Santa Anita S
“Horse entered to run on May 6; acute and severe colic in the afternoon, unresponsive to therapy; euthanized at surgery due to ruptured cecum and severe peritonitis.” An Agent was four years old.
The horse killing shit-show at Golden Gate Fields will be shut down once and for all at the end of 2023.
The horse killing shit-show at Santa Anita Park needs to be shut down very soon. I’m hoping for 2024 to be the year that this horse killing s*** show at Santa Anita Park gets shut down once and for all.
The level of abuse and brutality and neglect to/of horses for racing and wagering is outrageous and shocking.
Imagine the level of incompetence to say that a young, underdeveloped three year old colt or filly looks “fine” at 7:00 p.m. and 8 hours and 35 minutes later is FOUND DEAD IN THE STALL. This is outrageous and shocking to anyone with a conscience, but it is business as usual to these morally depraved horse killing heathens.
All of these people belong behind bars for a very long time. That includes all members of the California Horse Racing Board and all of the phony creeps that call themselves horsemen or horsewomen and abuse horses as a matter of routine on a daily basis.
