  1. at 2 years old, horses are dying on the track from all these ailments – something is out of whack seriously with all these ailments at a 2 year old horse

  2. Photos like this widely publicized might drive home the reality of what is happening to the youngest racehorses. One can readily see from the injuries that young horse bodies do not have anywhere near the proper physical development to withstand any type of racing.

  3. These people Are not horse breeders they are greedy morons, they have a breeding problem. DO THEY CARE HELL NO AS LONG AS THE HORSE WINS. THAT SAME HORSE CAN DIE AFTER CROSSING THE FINISH LINE THEY ARE THERE WITH THERE GREEDY HAND WHILE THE BODY OF THAT ANIMALS BODY ARE NOT COLD YET. BUT THE TRACK MAKES SURE THAT HORESE BODY IS COVERED UP SO THE PUBLIC CANT SEE THE AFTER MATH OF BAD BREEDING AND RACING THAT POOR ANIMAL TO YOUNG. And they still breed to that same stallion.,because he won a lot of money before going to the stud barn.

  4. This deliberate abuse and killing of young and underdeveloped colts and fillies has been going on for CENTURIES, but the technology to share the gory evidence of these gruesome killings of horses has only been in existence for a very short time, relatively speaking.

  5. The fact that these photos and the videos of racehorses horrifically breaking down are out in the open and no kind of federal abuse investigation is going on speaks volumes for both the general mindset of our society and the fact that as long as money is involved, the welfare of animals will always come last.

  6. Nice of the CHRB to share details of two more Peter Miller kills — just as he’s making a return from his Burnout Break. Seems Mr. Miller was able to use his so-called sabbatical to renew his enthusiasm for breaking down babies:(

    • He couldn’t even do a “six-month hiatus” right. Peter Miller didn’t change his bank account over from being in his own name to being in his assistant trainer’s name and some other technicalities.

      • Yeah, technicalities like not being at the training center, calling the shots, while his assistant took over his Breaking Down Babies responsibilities.

      • Yep. So says John Cherwa in a Nov. 4 L.A. Times “Sports” article titled “Two horses die in separate incidents ahead of Breeders’ Cup.” This was not long before Cherwa and the Times made the conscious editorial decision to stop covering all SoCal racehorse kills.

    • Kelly, I lost track of the article I read about the CHRB and their complaints against Peter Miller violating the rules of taking a hiatus. There is a different article that reports that the CHRB suspended him for seven days and fined him $10,000 in 2022. He has raced horses under his own name at DEL MAR and LOS ALAMITOS in 2022. Also, amidst all of this, Scott Chaney, CHRB executive director, defends Peter Miller by saying that Peter Miller was NOT under increased scrutiny with the CHRB even though he had five horses die in the 11 months before his alleged hiatus. So, Peter Miller can conveniently blame the fatalities of five racehorses on “freak, random bad luck” because the CHRB cleared Miller of culpability. Of course, Miller is not going to admit to doing anything wrong. Evidently, the CHRB wants to keep him around, but he keeps doing things that attracts attention to himself and the CHRB. I wish they all would STOP ABUSING HORSES for money!!!!!

  7. Someone step in at Saratoga Springs, NY. today, Aug. 4, 2022. It is too hot for racing horses, or any live being. Today is supposed to be very hot and humid, as many days have been. Today is forecast to be extremely hot. I thought there were rules about weather for these poor animals? Haven’t heard of any of these cruel races being cancelled.

  8. Just how do these people look at these photos and NOT stop and question their feelings and beliefs about horse-racing. This is a TWO-YEAR-OLD HORSE!!! Horrific inability to reason! Truly mind-numbing!

    • Peter Miller, the CHRB licensed trainer, uses the excuse of blaming the horrific and FATAL injuries that he WILLFULLY and DELIBERATELY causes to horses on “freak, random bad luck.” More proof that the members and the executive director of the CHRB are thirsty for horse blood and money is that Scott Chaney said that Peter Miller is not culpable. Isn’t that special?!?! These people are criminals and insane. They are spineless, gutless wonders!!!! There needs to be legislation passed to address this industry and stop letting them get away with this UNACCEPTABLE Animal Cruelty!!!!!
