One Horse’s Death at Los Alamitos: “pelvic fractures, sacral fractures, lumbar fractures, occipital fractures, massive hemorrhage, acute hypovolemic shock”

Through a FOIA request to the California Horse Racing Board, I have obtained the following details on 2020 kills (previous ones here). (The names were redacted but, paradoxically, the dead had already been identified on the Board’s public database.)

Buckstopper Kit, Jan 5, Santa Anita T (euthanized Jan 7) – “severely comminuted radius fracture” (surgery failed)

Eyell Be Back, Jan 10, Los Alamitos R (euthanized Jan 12) – “catastrophic breakdown of right carpus”

Uncontainable, Jan 18, Santa Anita R – “catastrophic fetlock breakdown, [multiple] severe ruptures”

Katies Easy Moves, Jan 19, Los Alamitos R – “open, comminuted fracture; severe, complete rupture”

Radio Tim, Feb 21, Los Alamitos R – “[multiple] fractures, [multiple] ruptures”; also: “stomach: chronic ulcers, multiple” (three years old)

Street Machine, Feb 21, Los Alamitos R – “large open wound with exposure of MCIII, [multiple] complete ruptures”

  1. Do you know what in Gods name happened to Billy the Hott to have ALL OF THAT going on. Poor thing!

    • Here is some more information from the necropsy report, Amanda: “Fell for unknown reason, attempted to rise several times, then died. Wound on the poll with multiple bone fragments. Suspected death from head trauma.”

  2. BILLY THE HOTT was a victim (as they all were) of an extremely cruel business that needs to be outlawed!!!! Every horse that was ever used in horseracing was put in a position to suffer for humans. This abuse, brutality, cruelty and killing of horses must cease!!!!

  3. From my snooping around, they vanned Billy off the track with a BROKEN BACK and HEAD INJURY. He did make the eyewitness news though letting people know another horse from Los Al was euthanized. If he was my horse I would have had my heart broken

    • PS I would not subject one to horseracing
They would be in a nice beautiful enviornment.

  4. Racehorses like BILLY THE HOTT are screaming out for help through broken bones, colic, laminitis, ulcers, head trauma, falling, and just about anything else.
I hear all of you and I will continue to be your voice until these living hell holes are shut down.
Los Al has always been a public torture and killing chamber for racehorses.
It frustrates me to no end that they are STILL open after all these years.
What’s it going to take to shut this down? What?
If dying isn’t enough what isR
I sincerely hope that the residents of California are demanding the CHRB to invoke Bill 469 permanently, but with recently appointed Equine Director Dr. Jeff Blea the chances of that happening is nil.
That’s precisely why pro-horse racing entities made sure he replaced outgoing Director Dr. Rick Arthur.

  5. Every single racehorse on the Killing List above counts, but I’m going to focus on a few.
If your a newbie to this site whether you read it or comment there are patterns that emerge and one of those is that certain “Trainers” who have 1 horse on the list usually has a long list of dead racehorses under their belt.
Take for example, Peter Miller – he’s a serial racehorse killer hands down.
He’s made the list yet again with racehorse UNCONTAINABLE.
True to industry form, he hasn’t been held accountable even when some deaths have been highly suspicious when an equine insurance policy is most likely in place.
Then there’s KATIE EASY MOVES who made over $330,000 and that still wasn’t enough to pull this gelding off the track and give him a soft landing.
He was, most likely, running with serious pre-existing conditions that they doped to mask, run and win money.
The mentality is usually run them into the ground and if they drop dead – so what, despite what they spew out of the sides of their filthy lying mouths.
Then there’s FLOKIE who made over $711,000 and that still wasn’t enough to protect him.
Trainer Lindolfo Diaz and owners Guadalupe Bujanda and Francisco Diaz you are disgusting people.
You didn’t take care of this horse and I bet he had serious pre-existing conditions, but you opted to risk his life.
Another bunch of parasitic asps condoned by this killing business with zippo repercussions.
This is all part of horse racing and this is yet another reason to shut it down.

  6. The number of horses with head trauma is beyond suspicious. “Fell for unknown reasons”, my ass.
And the fact that they hauled him off the track with a broken back and head trauma a just another example of “loving them like children” and “only having their best interests at heart”, I suppose.

  7. These people who allow the abuse and suffering of horses for selfish greed are totally disgusting. I am hoping that horseracing will end someday!
