Through a FOIA request to the Washington Horse Racing Commission, I have confirmed the following kills at Emerald Downs in 2017. Unless otherwise noted, immediate cause of death was limb fracture of one kind or another – with the underlying cause, of course, horseracing itself.

It would be good if the local press and the national press would do stories on this. When a horse breaks down on the track is in a race, the van gets it off the track pretty fast. I have to plead guilty to seeing a horse die on the track and not thinking too much about it.
The press doesn’t pay any attention to horse racing. That’s a good thing.

Billy, your not being rude or ignorant. Lol! The simple answer to your question is people don’t have any interest in horse racing. Sports reports on TV and radio only mention it on Kentucky Derby Day. The “industry” is dead in the water. Someday it will disappear hopefully sooner then later. Never be embarrassed to ask a question in the site, truth rules.
David, my question was for richard and his last comment…..i will never be embarrased to ask or do anything for what i stand up for never….but i do want you to know this is straight up for the horses i have no interest in personal issues or personal attacks unless it is necessary, so when i talk to people and ask them questions i do not wish for those to be offended……my personal attacks are for the ones that did their horse wrong and i know they did with 100% truth i have nothing for those people and it will end in a fight before one word is ever spoken simply because i know what they did and they do also no remorse for me there…..thank you for standing up for these horses they should not be going througb life the way they are ill never accept it
The press that covers the big stake days (NBC) are given very specific guidelines in HOW they announce and address breakdowns from what I’ve been told.
Anybody who participates and/or supports this vile business is pathetic racehorse abusers or enablers of the abuse, and that includes the networks who cover this legitimized animal cruelty.
