Friday at the races.
I have confirmed two deaths at Charles Town. 7-year-old Ace the Limit went down in the 2nd, was “vanned off,” and euthanized back in the barn. He was raced 26 times and was “For Sale” prior to each and every one. Two races later, 4-year-old City Exit was felled and euthanized where he lay. He, too, was a cheap claimer.
The (Equibase) chart for the 2nd at Evangeline: Lil Noon “was pulled up in distress entering the drive and euthanized.” It was his sixth time under the whip.
Also, there were two (that we know about) other “breakdowns” – both can safely be presumed dead: Steamer Bay at Golden Gate (6th), Diamond Rose at Tampa Bay (2nd).
Diamond Rose, Lil Noon, and Steamer Bay were born on consecutive April days – in 2013. Three more babes sacrificed for $2 bets.
This is horseracing.
