Magic Lemons was euthanized at Belterra May 21 for a “suspected complete small colon obstruction.” Here are her final four races, starting in Feb, all at Turfway – where they pay first-last – and all under the loving hand of owner/trainer Lindsey Marie Raines:
Feb 15: 9th of 10 – Raines took home $308
Feb 25 (yes, 10 days later): 9th of 10 – Raines took home $253
Mar 9 (same race Joy Enamorada died): 10th of 11 – Raines took home $303
Mar 17 (yes, 8 days later): 11th of 12 – Raines took home $236
Orbert suffered a “sudden death” (at the age of six) while training at Parx Jan 16. His final five races, all at Parx, which like Turfway is a racino and pays first-last, and all under Frank Poalucci and William Hogan:
Nov 2: last of 7, 18+ lengths back – Poalucci/Hogan took home $250
Nov 22: 6th of 9, 11+ lengths back – Poalucci/Hogan took home $250
Dec 6: 9th of 10, 14+ lengths back – Poalucci/Hogan took home $250
Dec 13 (yes, a week later): last of 10, 35+ lengths back – Poalucci/Hogan took home $250
Jan 4: 10th of 11, 23+ lengths back – Poalucci/Hogan took home $250
What they – yes, the “connections,” but also Parx officials, and the commonwealth of PA for allowing these subsidies – did to this poor boy is criminal.

Tortured for a few hundred dollars by their loving connections with the blessing of the officials.
The only escape for these poor horses is death.
