Recent harness rulings…
Meadowlands, Jun 2: “While driving Ideal Suspect, Dominik Miga did repetitively use the whip without giving the horse a chance to respond.” Suspended 5 days, $500 fine.
Meadowlands, Jun 3: “While driving Beach Demon, Frank Tsipouras did repetitively use the whip without giving the horse a chance to respond.” Suspended 5 days, $500 fine.
Plainridge, Jun 20: “While driving Rock The Belles, driver Shawn Gray was observed whipping after the wire.” Fined $100, no suspension.
Then in Indiana: “For multiple violations of the whipping rule – causing visible injury; welts – driver Jordan Ross has been placed on probation for the remainder of the 2023 race meet at Hoosier Park. Mr. Ross has been notified that any further violations of this type will result in a suspension from driving.”
Here are Ross’ multiple incidents of, again, causing welts: Apr 1, Jun 3, Jun 7.
This is your final warning; we really, really mean it this time. Disgusting.
What makes it worse is that they normally have longer careers than Thoroughbreds so the abuse lasts longer.
longer careers and then the Amish takeover. These poor Standardbreds suffer a lot of abuse. And the kill lots are filled with them.
I agree, Rose. I volunteer for a Standardbred rescue/sanctuary, and most of the horses have been pulled from the kill lots where they were dumped by the Amish.
Amazing how they’re called religious but care nothing for God’s creation.
These animal abusers need to know what it feels like to be whipped and have welts left on their own bodies. They need to be arrested for VIOLATING Animal Welfare Codes and they should be locked up in a very small space that they can barely move around in for the rest of their lives.
My thoughts exactly Wanda! Animal abuse, so heartbreaking😢😡🤬
