Crafty Jack Killed at Parx

No matter how many thousands of these I’ve read and reported, the coldness, the indifference, still strikes me. The full chart note for 7-year-old Crafty Jack in the 3rd at Parx yesterday: “Crafty Jack set the pace briefly, suffered a catastrophic injury to his right front after nearly completing 1/4 mile, was eased and subsequently euthanized.” And that’s that – next horse up; on to the next race.

This is horseracing.

  1. To the people who call this abuse of horses a job: You are despicable. You belong in prison for your crimes.
There are many jobs going unfilled in construction and other occupations.

    • They just changed the chart. From “vanned off” to “walked off.” Guess they just don’t know if he’s alive or dead.

  2. I’m trying to find something more disturbing than the official video of the Parx mouthpiece’s creepy cackle as she interviews the “winner” of this Death Race…
Trying, that is, but so far unsuccessful. Her laughter is utterly gleeful as she accuses the (surviving) horse of being “always grouchy!” — even as another horse is having the life snuffed out of him at that very moment further up the track.
Such a jolly bunch of professionals they have on staff at the four-letter obscenity known as Parx!

    • This reminds me of the commenters that say the horses receive “amazing care” and that they work together as a team to get the horse into the “winner’s circle” as if everyone should just check their sense of right and wrong at the door and not give a damn about anything else no matter how morally depraved it is; like winning is everything.
