In the 1st at Thistledown yesterday, Run With Grace, says the chartwriter, “trailed, suffered a catastrophic injury on the second turn, jogged to the wire and was euthanized.” Again, she “suffered a catastrophic injury on the second turn,” but was allowed (forced) to “jog to the wire.” Her jockey: $15-million-winning Yuri Yaranga. Run With Grace was four years old; this was her 19th time under the whip.
A few hours later, in the 10th at Parx, Mandate “suffered a catastrophic injury to his right hind leg after half a mile, was eased and subsequently euthanized.” He was five, and he was under the whip for the 23rd time. This, by the way, is the second kill in as many days at Parx – and all on the taxpayers’ dime.
Mandate, leg dangling, with mere minutes to live…
Downright ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING
Agreed
That poor girl. She is one of the thousands of victims–every year–from this horrible human endeavor.
I can’t get the visual of poor Run With Grace “jogging” to the wire with a fatal injury out of my mind. It’s haunting. Yet I’m certain that all the dinosaur blood sport gambling addicts who watched it happen are okay with it:
“Eh. That’s horse racing for ya. Killing fillies is just part of the game…LUCKY FOR ME, her breakdown earned me an extra $4.60. Whoo-hoo!”
May they ALL rot in HELL. How dare them taking the life of a chestnut baby. Run with Grace, a beautiful girl, never had a moments peace in her valuable life. Shut this whole evil mf’r DOWN. NOW
Once again the racing fraternity has shown just how much they don’t give a damn about the innocent racehorses that they literally ‘kill’ day after day. For them, its just another blip and there’s always another horse to replace the victim of their insatiable cruelty and total lack of empathy whatsoever.
You are so correct about that, Irene!
