A Catastrophic Injury – But the Winner’s Circle Celebration Carries On

Stormin’ Cougar in the 3rd this afternoon at Laurel: “Stormin’ Cougar prompted the pace outside the winner and unseated her rider when sustaining a catastrophic injury approaching the quarter pole.” She was three years old. Meanwhile, Maryland Racing (as usual) blacked out the ugliness – but they did show the Winner’s Circle celebration. How disgusting are these people (revelers and officials alike)?

  1. How disgusting are these people? They’re monsters, one and all. (But maybe they managed to recruit a few schoolchildren to witness today’s horror show for a class trip, and, you know, Grow the Game.)

    • Nancy, it seemed to me that they are experts at splicing and dicing and making horses disappear from the video, so why did they not make the outrider horse and rider disappear…? Maybe only because they were not injured…?

  3. I am horrified that they could celebrate after such a horrible incident took place as this poor horse suffered and was killed through its participation in the race. This is proof that such a horrible sport as horseracing must be ended.
