Some of Last Week’s Injured…

Last week on U.S. flat tracks (racing only):

Lake Tahoe “vanned off” at Oaklawn
Is Seperate Flyer “hit rail, DNF” at Louisiana
Nona Rac “vanned off” at Parx
Justtequilatalkin “bled” at Mahoning
Miss Lady L “vanned off” at Tampa Bay
Kukulkan “pulled up sore” at Charles Town
Eyokile “vanned off” at Gulfstream
Free Spirit “vanned off” at Tampa Bay
Caesar’s Calpurina “vanned off” at Fair Grounds
Thatsjustlovely “reported to have bled” at Aqueduct
Mrbobby Brightside “vanned off” at Gulfstream
Dyna Cat “vanned off” at Rillito

While not all the “vanned” end up dead, most do, as borne out by our year-end FOIA reports. But even if death is not the ultimate result, the above are victims nonetheless, suffering painful injuries – in the case of the bleeders, pulmonary hemorrhage – so that some men may gamble, others chase pots of gold. (For any new confirmed deaths during the week, please see our running annual list.)

  1. Not one week goes by without having a bunch of horses injured (and most likely killed) by racing and Pari-Mutuel gambling. Enough is enough.
