The Gaming Commission has just reported the death of Elegant Son today at Saratoga Harness: “accident in race 1 causing apparent broken neck.” The “accident” must have been quite horrific, as three other horses did not finish (I will, of course, update). Elegant Son was eight years old.

This is CRUELTY to horses. It’s absolutely unnecessary. It must be stopped.
That had to have been so bad. Standardbreds are so stout and well put together
This must have been a horrible accident. Nobody should allow this to happen to horses. We must end horseracing!
The fact that the horses were subjected to this tragedy waiting to happen was not an accident. It was deliberate. Horses should not be subjected to perform as gambling chips. If what happened to these horses was an accident, it was very preventable. Stop exploiting horses!
There is a tragedy waiting to happen every day at race tracks where horses are forced to perform as gambling chips. It’s a no-brainer. Horseracing must be ended.
