NYRA Strikes Again

According to the Gaming Commission, Noli Temere “broke down” in the 1st at Aqueduct yesterday and is dead. She was two years old, and this was but her second time under the whip. This makes 73 dead horses at NYRA (Aqueduct, Belmont, Saratoga) tracks this year. 73. How do they sleep at night?

  1. Noli Temere translated means “dont be afraid”. What an irony there. All I can think is this poor girl was petrified and shaking as she stood on her broken right front leg.

    • We see quite a few racehorses whose names are so ironic given their injuries and deaths, don’t we…thank you for telling us about this poor little filly’s name, Marie. 💔

  2. Why does anyone think that it’s okay to use horses as gambling chips? It is not okay. The horses are forced to endure abuse and torture. It is not okay. Even PETA recognizes that an average of THREE horses are killed EVERY DAY by racing. They don’t seem to condemn the practice of using horses as gambling chips, but they do want Bob Baffert to be banned from horseracing.

  3. Further proof that the horses are not loved like family! Such a vile industry always doing the opposite of what is appropriate and right thing to do with the horses.

I am not a religious person but am praying to see horse racing shut down. So much abuse and suffering, no love just money!

  4. It’s just unbelievable that this called sport. These poor creatures driven to death. How can this be considered sporting.
