Genetic Gem in the 10th at Aqueduct yesterday (her very first time under the whip):

“Genetic Gem broke out at the start bumping Starship Rogue and stumbled awkwardly losing the rider and suffering an injury freezing her hind end and standing prone and was attended to by veterinarian and euthanized on track.”

One would think that a dead “athlete” on the “field” would be fairly earthshattering. One would be wrong. Here’s what rates for the racers and players (hardened bettors): “There was a Stewards’ inquiry into the start focusing on GENETIC GEM prior to the result standing and the race being declared official.” “Official,” as in payouts locked in.

  2. This incident is one example of hundreds, thousands or even possibly millions of examples of why the horseracing industry in the State of New York needs to be TERMINATED FROM ANY AND ALL GOVERNMENT FUNDING OF ANY KIND!!!!!
    Regardless of what the professional horse-killing racing participants call it instead of calling it subsidies, it must be STOPPED, TERMINATED TO HORSERACING IN NEW YORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    The white collar horse exploiters call the government funding to their gambling racket using racehorses as gambling chips — DISPOSABLE GAMBLING CHIPS — Video Lottery Terminal payments (VLT payments).
    The argument is that the money is owed to them. Isn’t this the typical mentality of the horse-killing professionals???? Many of them have been doing this for forty years or so. If anyone in this industry says that this is “all they know” that is no reason and no excuse to let them continue to do what they have been doing for all or most of their lives — exploiting horses to the detriment of the horses for money.
    IT IS A PERFECT REASON TO STOP THE MONEY TO HORSERACING AND LOCK THE PERPETRATORS OF HORSE EXPLOITATION AND KILLING UP.
    At the very least, STOP THE MONEY/ THE GOVERNMENT FUNDING TO the white collar horse exploiters who use it to prop up THIS EGREGIOUS CRUELTY TO HORSES for their GAMBLING REVENUES using innocent horses.
    PLEASE CONTACT THE LEGISLATORS WHO ARE AGAINST THIS EGREGIOUS CRUELTY TO HORSES IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK.
    Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal needs your support. She is against this egregious cruelty to horses.

  3. I’ve read comments that people were horrified by watching this poor filly try to drag her back legs behind her.
    A very pro racing asshole wrote this comment in an article in Horse Racing Nation regarding this poor filly:
    “It’s part of the game. If you don’t like seeing it, watch ballet instead.”
    If you don’t LIKE seeing it?!
    Says a lot about the gambling addicts mentality regarding the deaths of horses.
