“Collapsed on the Gallop Out” at Gulfstream

The 8th at Gulfstream yesterday: “Fulmini trailed throughout, collapsed on the gallop out suffering an apparent catastrophic event, and was vanned off.” While I’ve yet to receive a firm confirmation, I’ll eat my hat if the 3-year-old survived.

  1. A good friend (and formerly involved in racing) and I were talking about poor Fulmini – she mentioned Fulmini is/was trained by Carlos David. I thought his name sounded familiar and it didn’t take long to find what I’d tweeted on March 27, 2021 about another racehorse of his…

“KY-bred Zenden, the long shot in today’s Dubai Golden Shaheen, broke the record for the race and BROKE HIS LEG. He’s DEAD. He had been 0-7 in graded and group stakes. His trainer, Carlos David – former longtime assistant to indicted Jason Servis.”

    • Zenden won that race amassing a large payoff and status for the connections. At the finish, it looked like the jockey was celebrating and fell off the horse. Actually, the horse had massively been injured after the win. I saw this race unfortunately and have been saddened whenever thinking about it.

  2. I suppose it goes without saying that the racing commissioners and stewards are just as unscrupulous, dishonest and not trustworthy as much as any of the owners, trainers and jockeys that are unscrupulous, dishonest and not trustworthy.
