Yet Another Kill at Belmont – That’s 36 on the Year

Belatedly, the NYS Gaming Commission has disclosed the death of 3-year-old He’s a Lucky Devil at Belmont eight days ago: “horse fell at 7/8 pole…causing injury – euthanized on track.” Belmont Park, one of America’s premier racetracks, now counts 36 dead horses on the year – this, after 53 perished there last year. Reform is a ruse, safe racing a lie. Horseracing kills. Period.

  1. Another one? I’m still trying to figure out if Booby Trap (or Bobby trap, if you’re an official, semi-literate Belmont Park Death Reporter) survived the Steeplechase Death Race that also claimed the life of Baltimore Bucko. Anyone?

    • The chart says BOOBY TRAP finished in second place. However, PERFECT TAPATINO (FR) was a DNF and was apprehended by an outrider and walked off the course under his own power. Nancy and I are curious about whether or not PERFECT TAPATINO is alive or not.

      • Yes, but the Gaming Commission says Booby Trap was vanned off and euthanized after that race — or, rather, “vaned off and euthaized.” I figured it was just a clerical error on their part, but it’s still up.
