The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission has disclosed the death of Urbana in the 5th at Churchill September 17:
“[multiple] fractures; massive soft tissue damage, including transection of the medial digital vein, artery, and nerve – euthanized on the ambulance”; also: “focal hemorrhage [in] right lung, extensive ulceration of stomach”
Urbana was three; ’twas her 6th time under the whip.
Another horse forced to finish the race with “multiple fractures”.
She was sold for $400,000 at auction, most likely because she was a daughter of the much-heralded Tapit, and the poor babe couldn’t even survive more than 6 races.
But remember Marie….”they love to run” 🙄.
Also don’t forget that their so-called owners LOVE them just like family members….all I can say is, may God help the ‘family members’ as they’ll be sent to the nursing home as soon they outlive their usefulness and they can’t be bothered to look after them.
This is what they call the “horse capital of the world.”
Shameful, disgusting and revolting.
There are no jobs, no economy – nothing that can justify this public torture and killing business.
You nailed it Gina, they offer nothing. Not only that…Ky. is one of the state’s that takes more than it gives. Also, Ky. has no options, or diversity in their economy. It’s like they put all their eggs in one basket (horse killing).
Kentucky is on the “bottom tier” concerning laws rankings for best and worst states for animal protection laws, according to the Animal Legal Defense organization.
New Mexico ls in last place instead of Kentucky, because Kentucky NOW permits veterinarians to report suspected animal cruelty!!
Further, Kentucky along with Nebraska and New Mexico are the 3 states with no law requiring any shelter for animals. Hard to believe that is the case in the U.S. in 2021!!!
