Last Week’s “Vanned”

Last week…

Coco’s Man “vanned off” at Delta
Salsa Rita “vanned off” at Gulfstream
Sarchione “vanned off” at Mahoning
Tambora “vanned off lame” at Penn
My Crafty Gal “vanned off” at Turf
Diamante Appeal “vanned off” at Turf
Capt’ Remington “vanned off” at Aqueduct
Elevator Shaft “vanned off” at Laurel
Pumpkin Star “vanned off” at Penn
Roundabout Patrol “vanned off” at Sam Houston
Day by Day “vanned off” at Tampa Bay
Florentine Diamond “vanned off” at Santa Anita
Bankers Daughter “vanned off” at Aqueduct

While not all the “vanned” end up dead, most do, as borne out by our year-end FOIA reports. But even if death is not the ultimate result, the above are victims nonetheless, suffering painful injuries – in the case of the bleeders, pulmonary hemorrhage – so that some men may gamble, others chase pots of gold. (For any new confirmed deaths during the week, please see our running annual list.)

  1. Funny how all the apologists go silent when they watch racehorse after racehorse crumble to the dirt on their tracks and sometimes express remorse that are mere empty words with no action.
They also go silent when they see killing list after killing list providing solid evidence of their killing business.
It never ceases to amaze me just how delusional these people are.
They live in a world of alternate reality by denying or ignoring facts while continuing to support the racehorse blood and shattered bone fragments spilled on their tracks almost every day.
    How convenient is that?
Here’s another example of hypocrisy, but how can anybody expect more from one of the biggest exploiters of racehorses in history: Frank Stronach, former owner/CEO of The Stronach Group.
Frank Stronach, according to reputable pro-horse racing reports, has sent 40 racehorses to multiple doping violator and multiple racehorse killer (many under suspicious circumstances that seem to indicate an equine insurance payout) Jerry Hollendorfer.
This racehorse killer “Trainer” is at the top of the list when it comes to shady business practices.
Yet on the other side of Stronach’s mouth is an entirely different story, one in which he wants to “clean up” horse racing, get rid of the doping cheaters and not kill racehorses.
Mr Stronach advocates for “anti lasix / race day meds” , yet he ran horses at SA on these meds.
Now he sends 40? to a guy that got ruled off in California even on his own track.
How’s that for hypocrisy and cleaning up the business?
Hypocrites and parasites is what you find in horse racing, but the saddest part of this story are their voiceless victims – the racehorses.

    • Hypocrisy is rampant in the racing industry! When we were participants, we saw it demonstrated daily by veterinarians, trainers, owners, breeders & track operators.

  2. Gina, every morning I go through the vet scratches of the day, some of the horses you see on the lists time and time AGAIN. There should be at the very LEAST a limit to how many times the same horses keep showing up on the lists. Horse (killing) racing, is the most pure evil bullshit. How can the people involved in this torture killing live with themselves?????????

    • Their goal is to fill races and their wagering coffers at the detriment of the racehorses as the kill lists prove, but so do all the kill pens filled with their unwanted racehorse mess.
Their public wallpaper is to spew out of their mouths that they care for their “family members.”
After that the usual rotation of go-to remedies such as improve track surface and don’t forget about all those safety measures in place to prevent this right?
      Yea right.
The same old broken record year in and year out that nets them billions in taxpayers money and/or casino profits with a wink and a nod from our politicians.
Meanwhile back at the ranch our public coffers are dry resulting in much needed community essential services.
Our local communities and state coffers would not be starving if that money was going to them instead of a bunch of racehorse abusers and killers.
The reforms mean nothing and have never – will they ever translate to actually caring for the racehorses or prevent the daily maiming and killing.
A pile of manure has more integrity than horse racing.
