While not all the “vanned” end up dead, most do as borne out by our year-end FOIA reports. But even if death is not the ultimate result, the above are victims nonetheless, suffering painful injuries – in the case of the bleeders, pulmonary hemorrhage – so that some men may gamble, others chase pots of gold. These weekly reports are always sad. So many race horses are suffering because horseracing exists.

Nancy, all I know is that the report says, “went wrong, fell” and that it is weird that the other horses listed were “vanned off” or “…returned bleeding” but no explanation of what happened to Caramel Latte; so far, not on the annual list of confirmed kills.
And they only reported Suarez broke his leg
Nancy, I’m still not finding anything that says whether or not CARAMEL LATTE is dead or alive. According to Equibase CARAMEL LATTE is a chestnut filly foaled on April 5, 2016 in Louisiana. Her breeder and owner is Wendy Schutte.
There is an article about Angel Suarez and the author only mentioned the name of CARAMEL LATTE because of the spill. In the spill, as you know, Suarez was injured badly enough to need surgery on his broken femur.
I’m assuming that this 4-year-old filly is dead, mainly because it’s like Kelly says about the secrecy of horses not being fully reported on; CARAMEL LATTE “went wrong, fell.” The end. Lalalalalalala.
