Remembering the Dead on This Christmas Morning

As we gather to celebrate what I hope for all is a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season, let us not forget the hundreds (with plenty more to come: end of year FOIA reports) of horses who have been sacrificed this year for gambling, entertainment.

Thank you for your unwavering support of our cause. Merry Christmas.

  1. This only goes to proves beyond doubt that those involved in horse racing in any way shape or form cannot ‘love’ or ‘appreciate’ or ‘admire’ horses. If they did, the distress would be simply too much. It would be the horse equivalent of the average dog companion losing their four legged friend at the rate of one a week and going out and buying another for it to die or be killed within another week, only to replace THAT one another week later.

These people have not one ounce of empathy towards horses, or probably any animal at all, and would be just as cold and disinterested if they were the owners of Greyhounds.

There is a special place in hell for these awful people.

  2. Happy Holidays to all at Horseracing Wrongs!
These are only a few of racing’s equine victims, but their memory on these pages will help serve to end the suffering of ALL racehorses in the very, very near future:)

  3. This list of horses that were sacrificed for gambling and “entertainment” is a daunting list. These horses didn’t deserve this inhumane treatment which caused their death and their lives to be shortened by so many years. Their quality of life was sacrificed as well as their lives. It is so wrong to not do something to stop this heinous abuse of horses and the criminal activity that goes hand-in-hand with the racing of horses at immature ages and with degenerative joint disease, doping and ulcers and so many other ailments and injuries that cause pain and suffering to horses.

May the spirit of the Christmas holiday be upon all. May the people who caused so much suffering to horses suddenly hear their conscience speaking to them of what horrible things they did to these animals and see the evil in the mirror. May they stop the horror of abuse and killing of these magnificent horses.
    Amen.

  4. Thank you, Patrick, for your tenacity and commitment to this worthy cause – you are so appreciated.

And THANK YOU to all who support the HORSES and not the industry that cripples them, kills them and throws them away – we appreciate all of you so much.

  5. Reading this list and the atrocities these gentle souls were forced to endure is heartbreaking. No sentient being should have to suffer these types of abuses from anyone, let alone at the hands of those humans who claim to “love them like family”. I pray that 2021 is the year of true freedom for the thousands of horses still trapped in an archaic system of cruelty and death.

  6. As Ray pointed out, you can’t “love” a horse whom you exploit and I want to add this.
Every single owner, trainer, jockey reaches a fork in the road at some point.
One of those paths entails the continued enabling and inhumane treatment of a racehorse because that’s what it takes to stay in this business.
The other is you face the facts, stop rationalizing, exploiting, and walk away.
Then and only then can you fully love and appreciate these beautiful creatures.
Thank-you Patrick for your unwavering dedication, to all those who support HRW in whatever way they can, to all the brave peaceful demonstrators who stand out in front of tracks to educate the unsuspecting public, thanks to any news outlet who exposes every single death, thanks to any animal rights or advocacy groups who have contributed in some way to exposing the truth, and just thanks to you all for being a voice for the horses.
We can celebrate the season, but the racehorses have nothing to celebrate until this vile business ends.

  7. Sickening! I kept scrolling down a seemingly endless list of innocent lives lost for nothing else but human greed and senseless entertainment. None of these beautiful, majestic, incredible creatures will ever be forgotten.
    Merry Christmas to everyone!
HW THANK YOU for everything you do.
May 2021 see the end of horse racing and may it be the year the horses are finally freed. We will keep fighting for the innocent.

  8. I cannot look at pictures of the foals, because, you see them, and they’re SO damn cute, and on the other hand, you know they are headed for a horrible, horrible life, of abuse, torture, doping, and ultimately a horrific death.
