  1. BAN HORSE RACING AND GREYHOUND RACING!!! BEYOND CRUEL MUST STOP!!!~

  2. This track and obviously many others should be shut down this is so wrong on so many levels
RESPECT THESE MAGNIFICENT ANIMALS QUIT MURDERING TH!!!!

  3. THESE PEOPLE WHO RACE THESE HORSES TILL THEY DROP DEAD ARE THE CRIMINALS ON THIS PLANET, ALL FOR THE MONEY. DEFINITELY HAVE WARPED SENSE OF EVERYTHING, GET THEIR THRILLS PUSHING THESE MAGNIFICENT HORSES TO THEIR DEATHS. THIS RACING MUST NOT CONTINUE, ALL FOR PROFIT, THE MIGHTY BUCK. THESE PEOPLE ARE THE MENTALLY DERANGED IN OUR SOCIETY!! FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO FOCUS YOUR ATTENTION ON RATHER THAN KILLING HORSES, PERHAPS DO SOMETHING POSITIVE WHILE LIVING ON THIS PLANET TO MAKE THIS WORLD BETTER THAN WHAT IT IS TODAY.

  4. We can’t trust them to care for the horses so it must stop. I grew up going to Del Mar Racing and my sister was an exercise rider in 70s. We can’t support this sport any longer. The horses have no lives at all and are over bred to try to find a few that can make it through the horrific training methods. It is a selfish ‘sport’ led by greed and ego.

    • Sharon, the cause of death was listed as “other” so it is speculation to say probably colic or laminitus. It could have been something else even. So the point is that horseracing is cruel and kills many beautiful horses and regardless of what reforms may have been allegedly written to allegedly protect horses, the people involved in horseracing are still treating horses in such an inhumane manner that the horses are not always able to live through it.

  5. All of you at the tracks should rot!
All you care about is money.
Stop all horse and dog racing now!

  6. Colic or Laminitis? Any caring vet would certainly realize exactly what was happening with Big Red Valentine and treated it! From what I know, Colic and Laminitis happen in two different parts of the horse’s body and I don’t know why the vet wouldn’t have known the difference and treated it. I’m not a vet or a horse trainer but I am smart enough to know that either one of those people should have known what was wrong with Big Red Valentine which could have possibly saved him!

    • Sharon, I think they knew the cause of death. They just list it as “other” leaving people to wonder and speculate what the actual cause of death was.
May BIG RED VALENTINE rest in peace. It is so sad that he had to die to escape the abuse and torture of being exploited as a racehorse!

  7. This type of thing breaks my heart. This is not a sport and is most definitely animal abuse.

  8. I was never for horse racing or dog racing. These animals are running for their lives. Most spent racehorse and those who don’t show promise end up going to slaughter. Grayhounds end up badly also. People are betting on cruelty. STOP IT1

  9. I used to like to watch horse racing on TV but now that I see all these sources that get destroyed because people are so greedy. They can’t wait to the horse gets fully developed to run they have to run them when their bones aren’t stable.I want to petition to have lots of rules changed in horse racing so it protects the animals.
Come on California do something about these desk at Santa Anita.

  10. I read uo on both diseases, colic and laminitis, are treatable, especially if somebody is paying attention to a horse’s health, catches it early, and gets a vetrinarian to respond. But rather than treat the horse or take it to an animal hospital if necessary, they kill it. Absolutely insane.

  11. Another horse dying for a useless, meaningless human amusement. So really stupid and … well what words will describe the senseless tragic death of a baby horse not even near maturity.

  12. The best thing that has happened for horse racing was the Covid Pandemic, as it slowed the kill rate. Now that most tracks are either racing now or soon, expect the equine death numbers to rise exponentially. This is beyond disgusting on every level. With all the dopers and cheaters, not intending to change their evil ways on behalf of the horses, there is no way to stop this runaway freight train of racing deaths. RACING MUST BE STOPPED!

  13. Does anyone know what animal activist group goes around and protests this horrible sport?

  14. The brutality and tortuous life of a racehorse is anything, but “royal.”
There are not enough fancy hats or mint juleps to catch the blood and snapped-off bones of defenseless, non-consenting racehorses as they continue to die.
There are no reforms that will change this – none.
I see the main change that must take place, in order to shut this public butcher show down, is the billions of casino profits that are diverted into horse racing coffers instead of our communities.
Once this total waste of precious taxpayers money and corporate welfare stops then the tracks will shut down shortly thereafter.
The moral issue of subjugating, doping, beating, confining, maiming, dumping and dying are obvious to most of us, but unfortunately I think it’s going to take the funding to stop.
We must vote in politicians who are commited to stopping the obscene amount of money given for racehorses to run in circles and die for stupid bets.
Then the money can go to build state-of-the-art schools to educate our children, daycare centers, and community essential services.
It’s a scam and the only people benefitting from this are the politicans and the “horsemen” groups.
Of course the biggest losers are the poor racehorses.

  15. Horse racing must be closed down and those continue it should be prosecuted for animal abuse felonies When these poor creatures drop dead.
