  1. Ah yes, magnificent thoroughbred racehorses on a daily basis are forever –

    being vanned off
    taking the proverbial “bad step”
    went wrong
    fell
    bleeding either bi-lateral or internal
    in distress
    suffered a catastrophic injury
    euthanased

It makes me sick to the stomach!

  2. Patrick: Just read that another Phil D’Amato-trained horse was injured Sat. in training. Pee Wee Reese had qualified for Breeder’s Cup, but will apparently be recovering from surgery instead. From Thoroughbred Daily News, one hour ago. Article ironically titled: “Safety and Welfare with Breeder’s Cup in Sight.”
Bet the fine folks at Santa Anita are feeling relieved that he broke down in training, and not on their Death Track.

  3. Another day another death – of course what would be any different. Until these god damn race tracks are shut down this brutality will not end – EVER. It is all about greed and that is the total story.
It is such a sad occurrence and so many needless deaths of these gorgeous horses just out there losing their lives all for what – for your lousy $2.00 god damn wager – you need the view the carnage and maybe then you would stop attending this kill zones because that is all they truly are – same old stories – just different names to the sad souls who lost their lives. Humans are the worst abusers – OMG it is just unbelievable what goes on daily with these race horses. May your judgment day be one of total HELL – all of you involved deserve nothing better.

  4. CBS online news is running a story about Satchel Paige being the 34th horse killed. I hope more news outlets pick up on the death toll and keep it in public view. It’s heartbreakingly tragic that so many innocent sentient beings are being exploited and killed, but it’s satisfyingly poetic that the racing industry is digging its own grave with every horse that dies.
