This morning, Coffee Crush died training at Belmont – officially (Gaming Commission), “horse had apparent cardiovascular collapse.” Coffee Crush was four years old. Since racing returned to Belmont less than two weeks ago, six – yes, six – horses have been killed on-track. If I haven’t already convinced you that NYRA’s “demonstrably safer racing” is but a base marketing ploy, I’m not sure that I can.
Belmont now counts 28 dead horses on the year…

I understand they are expanding Belmont so they can close Aquaduct, Good God, they need to close both of them for starters.
I have not heard anything about this yet.
All that I know is that construction has just begun with the new arena for the New York Islanders ice hockey team right next to the Belmont Park racetrack.
I saw the race on September 12, 2019 when Deft fell and rolled over.
I just discovered today that Deft broke front leg, guessing as to the direction of the fall it might have been the right front leg.
I wish to know where Deft has been laid to rest.
Before the death of Deft on 9/12/19 I never knew Deft. Having said that I want to do something to remember Deft for all time. It looks like horses die and if they are not big name horses, they are forgotten.
Please send me information about Deft from birth to death and please send some non copy righted pics I can use.

Deft was not laid to rest. His body was dumped in a designated area and left for the rendering truck to haul away. Thoroughbreds are not buried, they are discarded.
I directly witnessed many racehorses dying.

Once dead they are no longer of any value to them because they can’t fill races, the wagering coffers or egos.
Most racehorse’s are laid to rest on the slaughterhouse floor so should we draw their name in the puddles of blood after they are sanguinated?
Horse racing should be banned.
This is horrible! Owners should be be held responsible! They probably have insurance on their horse & then get paid out big bucks! So shame on the owners not protecting their horses!!
Just disgraceful the treatment of race horses.
I oppose horseracing, the ill treatment of hhorsesand animals as a whole and abuse. Stop killing horses! Stop the abuse!
