  1. WHY ISNT ANYTHING BEING DONE about this obvious massacre???? THIS IS AN ATROCITY!!!! Why arent the owners, the trainers, being held accountable????? PROSECUTE! Stop the massacre!!!

  2. This is just a sin to allow suffering like this so some people can enjoy the ‘sport’ of
horse racing. Money is the bottom line.

  3. This is an absolute disgrace! Horse racing is a callous disregard for the welfare of these beautiful and majestic animals. The horse racing industry is an evil and vile sport that race horses to their deaths. The use of drugs to mask their pain stemming from a horse’s previous injury, and whips to make them run faster is downright evil. Horses are seen as commodities as a means to rake in millions for their greedy owners. Their owners don’t care about their horse’s well being. They care about making millions at the expense of the horse. More often than not, these horses are destroyed for this vile sport. The horses who don’t win races, are sent to kill pens and auctions. Eventually, these poor horses are slaughtered. When a horse dies on the track or after a race, it’s death is deemed as nothing more than a piece of discarded trash. Their deaths are dismissed as something that is no big deal. The number of horses killed in one year alone is astounding. If the same number of jockeys were killed as horses, would the horse racing industry be banned? What will it take for people to realize that horse racing is abuse and must be permanently banned? How many more innocent and gentle horses will have to suffer and die before people wake up and realize that horse racing isn’t a glamorous sport? All of the people in the horse racing industry should be ashamed of themselves for allowing these beautiful creatures to be subjected to such cruelty all for the sake of monetary gain. How can people live with themselves knowing that they were somehow involved with and/or contributed to the deaths of such beautiful and majestic souls? It’s truly disgusting and a total disgrace what this industry has succumbed to. People are evil. Horse racing should be permanently banned.

  4. This cruelty beggars belief in a so called civilised country. Shame on all you Americans who just stand by and allow this to happen. DO something to stop it.

  5. The facts, the history, the lack of response, the lip service, the wallpaper, the continuous calls for the new Horse Racing integrity Act all points to a vile business that is involved with “wholesale carnage,” as Patrick says.
Another yearly meeting with pro-horse racing people at Saratoga or people who have taken money from this industry to present and/or support it.
I will never be in shock over this industries “wrongs,” because they are so vile, there just isn’t a bottom to what these blood, sweat and life sucking human parasitic leeches do to these poor racehorses.
However, I was shocked at what HSUS said at this meeting:
“We are not one of the animal welfare crazies who is trying to shut you down,” said Pringle. “We want to work with you. We’re committed to seeing this industry thrive as we help to ensure the protection of racehorses.”
Ms. Pringle you are amoeba living on these life sucking leeches – that’s how low you stooped when you said this statement, and I’m shocked that a group who supposedly cares, and protects animals can actually say this especially in light of all the information and FACTS that are undisputed.
Ms. Pringle under the HSUS banner is a paid whore of the horse racing industry, I wonder how much money you were paid to present this statement at the meeting?
Did you say this to merely pick-up your money or was it just something to rile up your audience full of racehorse abusers and killers?
Ms. Pringle, if there are any “animal welfare crazies” – it’s you and your organization that continues to support this and in your next breath?
Well, you state that you want to stop Tennessee Walking “soring,” but yet you support horse racing?
Ms. Pringle, it’s abundantly clear that you should head into the nearest mental health facility and check yourself in because anybody who supports, and/or participates in this public blood bath can’t be mentally sane.
Ms. Pringle this has been going on since its inception, it continues to go on, racehorses are being maimed and killed every single day and there are NO CHANGES that will stop the dying – NONE.
The horse racing business REQUIRES the cruel, abusive, inhumane treatment of racehorses in order to fill races and increase wagering profits.
Again, you would have to be delusional, not rational, and have some sort of mental problem to state otherwise.
So sorry for all racehorses who died for this vile business and the vile people in it and that includes you Ms. Pringle.

  6. You can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals – I think this pretty much says it all for people in the racing industry. They are only in it for the money; they can discard what they deem useless with no accountability. What is truly frightening is that the majority of our society finds the death and destruction of so many sentient beings acceptable and even defendable. If all you have to do is call it a sport and involve enough money to entice the bottom feeders of the human race, what else will soon be considered acceptable?

  7. Shame on the owners of horses forced to perform past the limits of their endurance. Shame on those who give them drugs so they do not feel the pain of an injury and at the end of the race they have been furthered injured and may not heel, so they are discarded as such a liability. The horses know nothing from humans like love, respect, caring and freedom. They are forced by rules to run the fastest, and a whip used to push them faster.
It is disgusting that these people cannot see past the money and fame they will receive if their horse wins a race.

  8. Does anyone know what DNF stands for? I just love the euphemism: “Took a bad step.” I guess that probably sounds better than “His leg snapped as soon as his hoof hit the ground.”

  9. DNF = Did Not Finish.
What does this mean to the racehorse?
It means that the racehorse was in such distress, either mentally and/or physically, that he couldn’t even make it through a 2-minute race.
    DNF translates to extreme suffering.
DNF means that the horse either walked-off or had to be “vanned-off,” which often results in euthanasia.
I will not use the term “humane euthanasia,” not for racehorses because them being given the pink solution while they’re laying in the dirt suffering is anything, but “humane.”
“Humane” is when I held my German Shepherd in my arms, told him how much I loved him and thanked him for the time we had together knowing that his quality of life (due to infirmities of old age) was non-existent, knowing that what I was doing was responsible pet ownership.
This business shouldn’t even be permitted to use the term “humane” because it’s anything but.
When I worked at Del Mar they used the maintenance shed as the killing area.
It was not equipped to handle a maimed racehorse when, in many cases, they couldn’t walk-off the van because their leg(s) were snapped-off.
So, in true industry fashion, they would euthanize them in the van and you would hear additional bones break when they hit the van floor.
They were then dragged out with a chain around their ankles, thrown in a heap, with a dirty tarp over them.
They wouldn’t even spend the money for a fresh tarp and the tarp would often have blood stains from the previous racehorse that had bones snap-off.
Myself and some of the vets had been complaining that Del Mar should have a proper euthanasia area (not that it would prevent dying), but would prevent some suffering, but Joe Harper wouldn’t approve this.
Hell, they are probably still using the maintenance shed.
This is in light of millions in wagering profits conducted at a public property paid for by taxpayers.

  10. i am horrified that this is still legal. Racing is horse pimping and is as bad as child trafficking. worse! Horses should not be ridden til 4 let alone raced. we cannot control the constantly new cocktail drugs that do not show up..the heat, the lack of socialization and free roam space, the injuries, please share spread the word. ban horse racing, ban bull fighting make eventing use soft fences. Gambling exploiting these innocent animals is sick. i do not want to live many days…the horror. the horror:(((((((((I have 2 race rescues I take on hikes on foot xoxoxoxo 50% of the time i do free style liberty and whatever they want to do. please lets ban together and stop this

  11. I have been following this sport for more than 50 years now, and have a true Passion for it…but for the last few years I get saddened by all the rules and bilaws that keep being broken by these trainers and killing these innocent horses, my passion is slowly being killed off also..how do they sleep at night doing what their doing in the name of money??

  12. Please continue the fight to ban horse racing. This is a sickening sport for the horses. They have no choice but to race.
