  1. I am aware that this happens even in the UK but animal welfare standards are higher here than in the US. It only goes to show that man hasn’t changed since the dark ages.

    • I am not sure that the standards are higher – just look at fox hunting.

    • The whip rules in the UK are better than any other racing jurisdiction (that i’m aware of), however, to strike a horse with a whip which causes both physiological and psychological pain, is unacceptable under any circumstances.

Do not agree with you that animal welfare standards are higher in the UK – horses suffer injury and death in the abhorrent steeplechase racing at the notorious carnivals such as Aintree and Cheltenham.

  2. Who can stop this horror

  3. It’s very telling about the condition of these horses that so many of them die to pneumonia and other viruses that they really should never have gotten in the first place. I’m sure the plethora of substances being pumped into them plays havoc with all their systems, including their immune system, and honestly, considering the day to day treatment , I doubt very much that they get the serious round the clock care that would need when they’re seriously sick. The racing industry is like a third world country for horses.

  4. Since every racehorse shares a January 1 birthday, does that mean this colt was only 1 1/2 years old? He was just a baby, so why was he in training? How many of these beautiful creatures suffer life-ending injuries because they are worked too hard while muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments are still growing? Why are they allowed to put these youngsters under saddle and rider at an age when most other breeds are barely weaned? Don’t feed me the crap about how thoroughbreds mature faster than other breeds. That’s BS and we know it.

  5. Used too love to go the track. Is there a lot of irresponsibility ot sabatoge . which would be dirty pool. Most likely the horses might have life insurance? Something s like the past can’t be help. Once there dead like any other pet was they giving the best shot at life ?
