I can confirm that It’s All Up to You is dead after “[going] wrong” in the 3rd at Lone Star Saturday. He was seven years old; ’twas his 26th time under the whip.
Hopehard, also seven, is dead after a fall at the wire in the 8th at Woodbine Sunday. Though Woodbine is in Canada (in fact, that country’s most prestigious track), almost all of Hopehard’s exploitation – 46 of previous 49 races – occurred in the States, most recently at Presque Isle in Pennsylvania.
It’s no secret that there are not enough horses to go around especially with all the tracks now going, collectively, 365 days per day in North America.
This shortage falls on the bones, backs and lives of racehorses with some only having 3 days turn around time – blatant animal cruelty.
It seems clear, based on PP’s, that they are sending many lame, and tired/sore horses up to Woodbine and all over, but they miraculously, pass the vet inspections which results in a horror show like HOPEHARD.
The secret doping/vet records protects the racehorse killers with any subsequent “investigations” leading to nowhere.
This is a deeply ingrained cruel and corrupt business and Woodbine is no different.
So sorry for both of you – I will continue to be a voice for all racehorses exploited and killed for this cancer on our society.
More deaths.
And those who have the power to intervene CONTINUE to do NOTHING.
