  1. The carnage continues unabated.
And the horseracing industry thinks that this is okay……?

  2. Liberal Southern California needs to extend their bleeding hearts to horses and stop this cruelty. This is a travesty. There is nothing worse than animal cruelty in the name of entertainment.

    • Are you kidding? There is a huge contingent of animal activists, protesters and political figures working on all issues of imprisoned, tortured, murdered animals of all kinds here in California. There are people doing humane education at Del Mar racetrack every weekend during the season. The ignorant, greedy, addicted attendees turn their hideous heads and don’t want to hear or read a word about what they are supporting and the inhumane treatment and deaths of gorgeous, innocent animals. Get over slapping the word “liberal” on everyone. What does that even mean? People are mixtures of many different beliefs and purposes. I happen to lean liberal and I happen to have spent my life standing up for the defenseless and abused — both human and animal.

  3. This is outrageous, if it was humans dying during a race, there would be uproar.
This must stop, we must think about how we are harming these poor animals who are trying to please man, who is just greedy for profit.

    • It does – but unfortunately those numbers are disregarded, and pro racing folks often say, with a shoulder shrug, that the deaths “are part of the game”, “could happen even if a horse was in the pasture”, “sadly a part of the sport”, and I could go on and on with the excuses. Then they solemnly offer their condolences to the connections of the famous deaths we hear about, whereas the low level claimers just get brushed off as the “sad part of the ‘sport’” and fade into anonymity as the newest victims are sent out to their very possible deaths.

      • Oh and then, of course, those figures and numbers are often “studied”, and scrutinized by multiple agencies, and people call for “reforms” in drug laws and “uniformity in racing”, and it never happens. And of course the “studies” show there is no one cause of deaths, no pin point answers, and no blame set on anyone. So business goes on as usual, because those enmeshed in this industry see nothing really wrong with the deaths and abuse, “because it’s part of the ‘game’”.

      • The results of The Cliffs of Moher’s necropsy have been released in Australia. And of course- there were no illegal drugs found, no previous injuries (such as micro fractures – right!), his behavior prior to the race was normal for him, and the track surface was not the cause. So, as I said earlier, they study, and find nothing, and everyone is blameless. But yet, an apparently perfectly healthy young horse is dead from a shattered shoulder.

  4. When will the human race wake up and evolve? Forcing horses and dogs to race on a track is infantile and cruel. These animals are just considered equipment by the greedy morons who want to bet on which animal will be the first to the finish line. How retarded are we to engage in such cruel stupidity?

  5. It is sickening what the horse racing industry gets away with. Most people are not even aware of nurse mare foals, hundreds of thousands of foals that the racing industry kills every year, look it up folks! This is cruelty in the name of greed and there isn’t any brutality that these monsters haven’t inflicted on the innocent horses!

  6. SHUT DOWN THIS HORRIFIC INDUSTRY — Keep in mind that horses, these majestic animals, are sensitive, intelligent, sentient beings — NOT stuffed animals — they are members of our family — they do so much for all of humanity — they depend on us — do not betray them — do not put them in danger’s way — The history of mankind is carried on the back of the horse — All horses deserve to be respected and protected, no matter what a man says they’re worth.
