  1. I see that Justify has been retired. He has a swelling in one of his ankles that won’t go down, and it sounds like Baffert is afraid to race him. The article I read, mentioned nothing about the horse possibly breaking down in a race in the future, ending up being euthanized, his jockey possibly injured or worse. Nope-it sounds like all they are concerned with, is that he can go on to breed. There’s a ton of money tied up in that, for this young stallion.
Young. That’s the problem. Keep racing horses while their bones are not fully developed and matured, and of course, they are going to break down-a lot. Its a wonder any of them survive to breed, or to go on, if gelded, hopefully to other careers as jumpers, trail horses for private owners, or even to go to slaughter. Although if you go to a slaughter house, I bet you see a lot of horses who are gimping about on 3 legs, or worse, are down. I suppose this was predictable, a young horse raced as hard as Justify was this year. Yeah, its a wonder he didn’t ever go down, in a race or a workout.

    • You hit the nail right on the head! Greed…as usual…that’s what this is now all about…and race in front of the equivalent of the Romans watching the blood in the Forum…These are beautiful smart creatures and deserve more than what they are being given…Time to put a stop to this barbarism…

  2. This is not a sport and should be banned. This is animal cruelty most heinous. Greedy people most arrogant and poor horses most abused and most innocent. Horse racing is, in my opinion, right up there with dog fighting neither business cares what they do to their animals, only that they produce money for their miserable owners.

IT SHOULD BE BANNED IN AMERICA

  3. I can’t believe this is still taking place in our country. What the hell is wrong with these sub humans that put a young animal on the track? It’s sickening and so wrong.

  4. This is sadistic unexceptable cruelty do you not care???! Dr kay campbell

  5. We will never really know what exactly happened to Justify because the vet/doping records are kept secret.
Yet, it’s clear that his billion dollar stallion contract is the only reason why he was sparred because if he was any other horse (90% of racehorses being claimers) he would have been sent out to be maimed and/or killed.
Upon review of this list, most racehorses were sending out SOS signals since they can’t talk.
Horses such as GOLDEN SEQUENCE who DNF’d the race before and they STILL ran him causing “distress.”
JOSHUA’S COMPRISE made over $372,000 and that STILL wasn’t enough to give him a decent retirement.
They just kept on running him probably knowing that this horse had issues, sending him out to die more or less.
Again, the secret doping/vet records will protect these sadistic, demented, bloodsuckers.
Other horses on this list finished by lengths described as “done,” “outrun,” “not responding to urging,” (urging = beaten with a whip).
These people are sadistic executioners and then the people who support this or derive a living from this vile madness enable these executioners.
The CEO’s of the wagering companies (who are usually the CEO’s of the tracks) are blood sucking leeches while the rest of the ignorant masses stand by and watch this inhumane, unacceptable horror continue.
Politicians (mostly Reps) who get money from this business are the pimps.
This is all conducted on the bones, backs, and lives of non-consenting, voiceless beings and it’s horrific.

  6. Unblievieable, that this is allowed to continue heartbreaking, hate horse racing,,and the greedy bastards that take part in it., 😥😥😥
