Two Kills at Charles Town

I have confirmed the following deaths at Charles Town:

July 15, 3rd race – Belle’s Candy, a “vanned off” on the chart, euthanized off track. In her most previous race (Charles Town, May), Belle’s finished last – 29 lengths back.

August 3, 5th race – Zipping By, also a “vanned off” and also euthanized out of sight. Zipping’s final six races, all under trainer Charles Frock, owner McDougal Racing:

April 2, Laurel, second-to-last
April 14, Laurel, second-to-last
May 27, Pimlico, second-to-last
June 18, Laurel, 10th of 12
July 9, Laurel, second-to-last
August 3, Charles Town, last, dead

Prior to his final run, Zipping By was being offered at $5,000; by finishing that race – albeit 27 lengths back – Zipping won $100 for his people.

This is horseracing.

  1. One of the more common comments by racing apologists is that “we are not all bad.”
    Yes you are.
You don’t have to be the direct abuser which is what they are referring to in many cases.
In actuality, you are an abuser because you are participating in an industry that requires you to subject your horse to abusive practices, and EVERY SINGLE one of you has done it, is doing it, and will do it.
Furthermore, by supporting a race that has a horse die in that race you are an enabler of the dying.
You may all fool yourselves claiming that you are not “bad,” meaning not abusive, but you all are.
So sorry for BELLE’S CANDY and ZIPPING BY, some more victims of this despicable business.
We will continue to be a voice for these racehorses as they are dying in the dirt for $2 bets.
Anybody who supports/participates in this mayhem is delusional, and/or demented to some degree.
