  1. The horror story for these horses continues when those that can intervene do NOTHING!

The vets who pass so many horses as being okay to race need to be brought to account. They make a mockery of the oath they take –

“Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine, I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health and welfare, the prevention and relief of animal suffering, the conservation of animal resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge”.

    • Many vets working on the tracks own racehorses under hidden ownership based on the information that I saw.
They know what drugs are being tested for, and what drugs are not.
There are no rules on the books (that I’m aware of) that prohibit vets from owning racehorses.
There are entire vet groups/syndicates running horse racing all over North America from what I saw, and experienced.
They seem to get kickbacks from the pharmaceutical companies to the wagering giants, and they work in tandem with them.
The recent court case in Pennsylvania is solid evidence that this is going on.
Far from protecting them, they use their expertise to exploit them, risk their life, and then dump them if they make it out alive.
This is the dirty world of horse racing.

  2. So this has been yet another tear jerker morning for me.
BEN’S CAT has been euthanized due to complications of surgery.
    http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/bens-cat-euthanized/

He is unequivocally a VICTIM of this despicable business.

Ben’s Cat, multiple stakes winner, 63 starts, 32 wins, made over 2 million dollars but still forced to run at 10 years old!
There’s no doubt in my mind that if he would have been retired much earlier he would be grazing right now on some grass.

You horse racing apologists are a sickening bunch of animal abusers, and your time is coming to an end due to lack of support for your legitimized animal cruelty.

BEN’S CAT – RIP you beautiful soul. You were unable to endure the massive abuse perpetrated on you by your owner/trainer, and the supporters of this business. Your lemon was probably squeezed dry long before you were finally retired.

  3. Just looking up some of these horses…

Baytown Princess. KY-bred, dark bay, TWO-year-old filly. Owner/trainer for her 4 lifetime starts (in only 3 months), Paul McEntee.

    Her stats/results for McEntee;

-7th of 8 on April 13 at Keeneland…”broke slow and was never a factor”. 15 lengths behind.

-7th of 8 on April 27 at Keeneland…”came up empty…and dropped out”. 14+ lengths behind.

-last of 6 on July 7 at Ellis Park…”hopped at the start…trailed the field throughout”. 31 lengths behind. 31…

-her last race, on July 14 at Belterra Park, was only ONE week after she finished 31 lengths behind. This from the chart; “Baytown Princess went wrong…and fell, unseating her rider, bothering several foes in the process…euthanized on the track.” The chart, regarding two of her “foes” – Fainelli “swiped fallen foe” and Lantana Moll “fell over fallen foe”.

Paul McEntee, are you blind? Was it not glaringly obvious to you that your little 2-year-old filly wasn’t “making it” as a racehorse? The THIRTY-ONE lengths off in her July 7 finish wasn’t a clue that she was begging you to STOP? And then you thought you’d get an edge by giving her first-time Lasix for her death race?…sickening…dehydrate her before making her race.

And did you, readers, get this from the chart?…her FOES? Humans exploit the horses’ God-given or evolutionary means of survival – RUNNING – by making them compete against each other for human entertainment and then they make them enemies of each other. Grazing herd animals who CRAVE their kind’s company for life enrichment, safety and survival are…FOES? Only imperfect, selfish humans could twist something so beautifully wondrous into something so hideous.

    Makes. Me. Sick.

    RIP, little Baytown Princess.

    • Yes Joy they are delusional as we have seen time and time again.
Then the enablers of the abuse, the racing commissions, are actually accessories to the dying because they permit these racehorses to run instead of baring them from racing.
Even if one racing jurisdiction does the “right” thing (which is an anomaly) they just go to another racing jurisdiction to continue the abuse, and inhumane treatment of a horse who is so obviously rejecting what is forced upon her.
The entire horse racing culture supports the abusers, and enablers of the abuse under the guise of fancy hats, and “entertainment” banner.
Anybody who participates and/or supports this ugly horror show that plays out every day on racetracks all over America would have to be delusional – blind – heartless.
      RIP Baytown Princess.
You were another victim of this VILE business, and we will make sure you don’t die in vain.
We will be a voice for you and countless others until this despicable industry shuts down.
