  1. Disgusting, revolting, and blatant animal cruelty all conducted under the guise of “entertainment,” but really is nothing more than a pathetic excuse for gambling.
This Death List clearly shows, and confirms that racehorses are dying every day for this despicable business.
I went through this Death List in more detail, and it’s all sickening.
That said, there is one horse in particular that I’m bringing to everybody’s attention here:
Purchased by Charles & Maribeth Sandford then somehow making his way into the MIDWEST THOROUGHBREDS racing stables.
These people have a long history of racehorses DYING under mysterious circumstances especially the ones purchased for very high prices at the sales.
This means that the horse they purchase is almost always INSURED for the purchase price.
In this particular example, Chivalrous was purchased for 1 MILLION dollars, and he would have to die in order for them to collect that.
Sources say that they immediately put in a 1 million dollar claim for his death, but since this business is highly secretive, especially when it comes to their racehorses dying, it’s impossible to confirm this information unless such authorities as the FBI steps in, and begins an investigation.
Of course the medication records, and the necropsy will remain secretive as well.
Moreover, their racehorses tend to disappear after they are deemed non-competitive at upper levels.
Since they have a pattern of purchasing racehorses, slapping insurance policies on them, and subsequently dying it seems plausible that Charles & Maribeth Sandford is nothing more than a smokescreeen?
It’s also possible that they purchased the horse for MORE than 1 million dollars from Charles & Maribeth Sandford.
There are some shady business deals, and operations going on under Midwest Thoroughbreds.
Seems astounding that all the apologists who “care” about racehorses don’t file a complaint with the FBI to initiate an investigation.
The death took place at the “premier” racetrack Gulfstream Park, and they too will uphold the ongoing maiming and/or killing of racehorses (even under these mysterious circumstances) to ensure that their wagering profits keep rolling in.
We will NEVER know what was given to Chivalrous just before he died.
We, nor the wagering public, will be exposed to the deep dark secrets that probably took place in the corner cobwebs of his stall before he was sent to his death that day.

  2. Follow-up.
The website of Midwest Thoroughbreds has not been updated in some time.
They only list the horses that perform not the horses that are maimed and/or killed.
Therefore, Chivalrous has not been confirmed dead nor would their connections confirm this, nor would Gulfstream Park.
So although some people there that day are sure he’s dead I’m not able to confirm this at this time.
It’s due to the lack of transparency, and the deliberate release of facts from this business, that I’m unable to confirm that he died.
Nevertheless, Midwest Thoroughbreds has some weird things going on as posted in my previous comment.

  3. WHEN will this pastime of horse racing CHANGE? — If this industry does NOT change, then all race tracks MUST be SHUT DOWN! — the treatment of horses is horrific, irrational, hateful, depraved, immoral & should be ILLEGAL.

    • Mari, it hasn’t changed in 100 years so expecting changes is delusional.
I found that out the hard way.
When you strip away the public fodder, fancy hats, mint juleps, the “entertainment” banner – all you really have is a voiceless, defenseless horse being exploited, maimed, dumped, and/or killed for gambling.
This is not a sport, nor is it tradition – this is a legalized cruelty ring that often results in racehorses dying.
It’s got to go one racetrack at a time by stopping their financial support via casinos and/or any type of taxpayer funding including breeding money.
