3-Year-Old Dead at Louisiana Downs

Margie’s Gold Coin, a 3-year-old being raced for just the second time, is dead (Equibase: “euthanized”) after breaking down in the 4th yesterday at Louisiana Downs.

Young, old; rich track, cheap track – it simply doesn’t matter. Horseracing kills horses.

  1. Her second race start…….this is just so sickeningly cruel.

The photo that Patrick put up is an example of an innocent horse dying in the dirt for $2 bets, human entertainment and greed.

Yes, another day on the job and jockey walks away…..to get ready for the next ride and potentially another horse death. They don’t give a damn. He has a cruel whip in his hand, it’s quite long and therefore more harmful to the horse. Where I am, a whip that long is banned.

And the attendant’s horse, likely an ex-racehorse, knows what is going on with his herd mate, this is no accident of nature, this is abhorrent animal cruelty.
