  1. you dont think it has anything to do with COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF THE “LEGAL ” DRUG LASIX ( A POWERFUL DIURETIC ) – no human in ANY sport would EVER take a diuretic pre competition , much less in the PROFUSE AMOUNTS GIVEN TO THESE POOR INNOCENT ANIMALS ) , HEART BREAKING – in 100 degree heat they do NOT lesson the amount of DEHYDRATING DRUGS ) – 10 CC’S ( WHEN 4 -5 CC’S IS MORE THEN ENOUGH TO PREVENT INTERNAL LUNGE BLEEDING ) , this shit is GIVEN 4 HOURS PRIOR TO EACH RACE – LEAVING NOT ONE OUNCE OF FLUID IN THE HORSES TO BODY TO DRAW ON WHEN THEY ARE FLAILING AFTER A 1/2 MILE FROM EXHAUSTION & DEHYDRATION , THE SICKEST PART OF ALL OF IS IS THE VETS WHO TAKE AN OATH TO PROTECT THESE ANIMALS & THEY ARE IN THE ONES SHOOTING THEM UP WITH DRUGS TO DEHYDRATE, MASK LAMENESS , MASK OTHER DRUGS , PAIN KILLERS , ANTI INFLAMATORIES, MORE PAIN KILLERS ON TOP OF PAIN KILLERS , . SICK SICK SICK SICK BUSINESS – THEY CARE NOTHING ABOUT THE ANIMALS THEY SWEAR TO SERVE & PROTECT .

    • Lexi, you are 100% correct.
Anybody who provides a service to an active racehorse, vets included, makes money off of their miserable lives.
It’s an entire circus of ongoing abuse, and cruelty.
Many people get rich off the bones, and backs of these racehorses.
Yet, the racehorses aren’t ensured a safe retirement if they make it out alive.
The drug companies compounding these drugs make millions so it’s in everybody’s best financial interest to support the ongoing doping of racehorses – except the racehorses themselves.
They are turned into pin cushions and crippled disposable commodities by these bottom sucking parasites.
This is the dirty world of horse racing.

      • And studies have shown that the dehydration caused by Lasix does not trigger the normal thirst response in the horse. Horses are not going to drink like they do when they become low on fluids from normal influences such as hot weather etc. It takes up to several days for the horse to rehydrate following the loss of fluids in response to the drug.
Extreme exercise under the whip in hot weather following the copious and sudden loss of fluid as well as electrolytes is a recipe for disaster.

These people are evil and the vets are guilty of malpractice.

        • absolutely, the vets are the bottom line parasites , if it wherent for them filling their wallets ,for if they would refuse to empty their syringes into these poor innocent animals , these deaths would not happen. it is in the hands of these evil greedy bastards . As a racing insider for more years then i care to remember , now i fight & bring the TRUTH to all that care to listen , this film ACCURATELY depicts whats goes on in EVERY stable on the backside of Americas race tracks, the cruelty chased me out of a ‘sport’ i thought this was , horses running because they loved to run , o how disallusioned i was , the dream i had as a little girl, the majesty, the power , the beauty was all overshadowed by the drugs, death, needles, scum bags and THE DIRTY STINKING OATH BREAKING VETS who use these animals for pin cushions , its all about the $$$$$$$—— this documentary is the RULE not the exception —— Horse Racing Exposed: Drugs and Death https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TJVA2lwW4A

  2. Yes Lexi, for those of us who have left, we can now see clearly just how delusional we were, and we can also see the delusional thinking in pro-horse racing comments on this blog.
After all, we used all the usual excuses to justify the delusion when we were active in this despicable industry.
The vets are part of the entire cycle of ongoing doping cruelty, and abuse.
The vets know full well that they must keep doping, injecting joints, and justify it by disallowing the exposure of vet records – the only industry that does this.
Everybody is guilty of the ongoing abuse from the vets, to the Trainers that order the doping, to the Owners that send their horses to the Trainers that they know will “get the job done” by doping the horses.
The Owners are equally guilty because they know full well when they get their long list of doping injections in their vet bill that they pay making them complacent in this entire abusive scenario.
It’s the racehorses and the jockeys that pay with their lives.
The jockeys have a choice to ride and participate, the racehorses don’t.
To NOHORSESLAUGHTER ORTIZ: you posted a very interesting comment about exposing the dirty world of horse racing. I sure hope you do.
For years people kept their mouth shut and moved on. This must stop now. People need to start the dialogue, start speaking out about the corruption, start exposing this industry for what it is: corruption cesspool, cruelty circus, and death camp.
When they are not dying on the track, then they are being dumped in huge numbers.
Here’s one poor mare that was dumped by rich influential owners – the ones that loved their horse.
Well if this is love, then I wouldn’t want to see their hate!

  3. Gina, thank you for the link to Press Exclusive’s story.
This is the story of so many horses in this business but without the same outcome. And as we well know most stories go quietly into the night and never see the light of day. This is a morally bankrupt business.

My 14 yr. old nephew summed it up when he said “racing is immoral”

    • Yes Rose.
Your 14 y.o. nephew is more moral than people in the horse racing slavery ring – good for him.
Another poster said it good: “horse racing has lost it’s social license.” She’s 100% correct.
Press Exclusive was one of the lucky ones.

  5. There is NO EXCUSE for sending that mare to slaughter. The decent thing to do would be to put her down. Guess these highly principled owner(s) needed the last dollar out of her and refused to spend the money to do the right thing. What a shame.

  6. Here’s one of the main reasons why the ongoing cruelty, and abuse in New Mexico is happening:
    http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/211516/hubbard-now-sole-owner-of-ruidoso-downs
At the young age of 81 years old, he controls horse racing in New Mexico. He owns hundreds of active racing stock, that fill the races there whom often breakdown, and die with little or no accountability.
He allegedly has most government officials supporting his private coup.
He was caught allegedly bribing a racing commission official to hide all the drug positives coming from his racehorses that win most of the races there.
He’s pretty much running his own private cruelty show, and death camp it seems.
Among of all his talents, he took the time out to denounce drugs in horse racing, and announced that he would increase surveillance on his tracks. What he didn’t say is that the surveillance will be on everybody else, but himself.
    http://www.paulickreport.com/news/ray-s-paddock/horse-co-owned-by-ruidosos-hubbard-among-four-testing-positive-for-clenbuterol/
It’s a known fact on racing circuits that you don’t run in New Mexico because Hubbard controls it, and you don’t dare challenge his power.
This multi-billionaire watches racehorses endure catastrophic breakdowns, and dying like he’s buttering his toast in the morning – nice dude.
With all his money, power, and monopolization he does little or nothing to change the plight of racehorses on his track.
He’s just another spike in the wheel of this despicable industry.
Racehorses are breaking down, and dying in the dirt at racetracks owned by this multi-billionaire.
So don’t dare tell me that horses coming from opulence are treated differently than horses coming from smaller racing stables because in the end they are all subjected to the operations of this cruelty circus, and death camp.
In the end, they are being dumped or dying in the dirt for $2 bets, and for very rich owners.
