The NYS Gaming Commission has disclosed the deaths of two horses at Finger Lakes:
5-year-old Sin Banderas, May 19
4-year-old Prime Time City, May 22
Before dying, Sin Banderas was put to the whip 23 times, most recently at Tampa in April. As of this writing, the proximate cause of death has not been revealed. Prime Time City was also a lowly claimer. While the Commission filed his death under “non-racing,” he was euthanized for “multiple chip fractures” in his knee just six days after his last race. Draw your own conclusion. Regardless, Horseracing Wrongs maintains that all deaths of active racehorses, especially those that occur on track property, are Racing deaths. All of them. “Non-racing” is but a cheap and easy distraction.
