Stenson, Endearing Dead at Belmont

Yet another horse who was merely reported as vanned off has turned up dead. Yesterday, 3-year-old Stenson fractured sesamoids in the 1st race at Belmont. Today, he is gone. As a young, promising colt, he no doubt received a little extra attention – splint, x-rays – but in the end, there was nothing to be done. In his penultimate start on September 1st at Saratoga, Stenson “bumped solidly with a rival at the start…faded” and finished 8th of 9, 20 lengths back. Debra Divitto trained, owned, and bred.

And just this morning at Belmont, an unraced 4-year-old filly named Endearing snapped a leg while breezing and was euthanized. She was being trained by John Shirreffs. To date, 94 racehorses have died at NYS tracks this year – a full third of them at illustrious Belmont Park. This is horseracing.

  1. Maybe we there will be some “enquiries” and maybe some “meetings” or even a “task force”. There certainly will not be any action to protect the horse. Ninety four killed and nobody bats an eye. What is wrong with these people

    • I ask myself that all the time, Rose…WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?!?

      RIP Stenson. RIP Endearing.

  2. I choose to reply to this article because I don’t want people to believe all race horses are cruelly mistreated, From the day Stenson was born he was special, he had been born not breathing and it took mouth to snout resuscitation to bring him to life. He could not stand nor did he have the ability to suck, leaving him in a very precarious situation. Did I do the wrong thing I found myself wondering by picking him up in my arms and putting him in the trailer with his mom for a six hour van ride from Saratoga NY to Monmouth NJ for him to receive hyperbaric treatments. He received two treatments plus four bags of plasma as he could not take in the colostrum from his mom. He was able to stand and nurse by the end of that visit and I was very grateful for that. However that was not the end of it, he had managed to get an infection where the umbilical cord was, and another that we could not locate, so he ended up with another trip to the hospital and stayed there for almost three weeks. I can’t even tell you how awful it was and I believed if he had survived all of that he must be destined for great things. When he turned two he was also babied through a few minor juvenile problems that are typical for young horses. As a three year old he had a separated hoof wall situation during the summer meet at Saratoga and that is why he did not run until the end of the meet, that race was used to prepare him for the longer distance that I knew he wanted. His half brothers all seemed to do very well going longer distances.
Stenson went into that race on October 8th 100 percent sound, he never had need of standing bandages and NEVER received any joint injections throughout his carreer, all he went into that race with was just a standard little pre-race that I do for all of my horses. I would not run a horse if he or she were lame or sore and this is the first time this has ever happened to one of the animals under my care. I can’t even tell you how devastated I was, I couldn’t even speak to anyone about it for a month, and as I sit here writing about him I feel myself wanting to cry.
I am one of the trainers that takes the time to make sure they are looked after when they tell me they are done. I don’t race them past a no return point. Two of his brothers were claimed from me, and the new trainers felt they had to get every last nickle out of them, I was able to rescue one and he is still with me to this day. He will bow for candies and loves his paddock and friend, this is the life Stenson would have had if I had been able to save him that day.
Yes there are terrible people in this business but there are also good loving people too. Stenson loved his job as most of these animals do because this is what they were bred for. If you could see some of them flying around the field as they do at the racetrack maybe I could change your mind about how you think of us and what we do to them.
Yes I agree with you RIP Stenson, you were a great gift to me and you were much loved.

    Debra Divitto

PS By the way he was named for my uncle David who suffered a serious stroke a few months before he was born. This horse was part of my family

    • Where to begin, Ms. Divitto. “…that race was used to prepare him for the longer distance that I knew he wanted”; “Stenson loved his job as most of these animals do because this is what they were bred for.” Delusional.

Were his brothers whom you sold away also like “part of [the] family”? Your entire industry makes me sick.

    • Debra,

Thank you for sharing your story. I do believe that you loved your horse. I also believe that you cannot possibly know what goes on in a horses mind. I believe that your love for racing is stronger than your love for horses because every time you race your horses you are putting their lives in danger.

My first question to you is this. You said that two of your horses were “Claimed” I do not know a lot about the world of horse racing but it is my understanding that you would have been the one that would have entered the horses in the claiming races and if that is the case, why did you do that if you really cared about these horses welfare.

My second question is this: you said the following in your email.

“As a three year old he had a separated hoof wall situation during the summer meet at Saratoga and that is why he did not run until the end of the meet, that race was used to prepare him for the longer distance that I knew he wanted. His half brothers all seemed to do very well going longer distances.”

What does “a separated hoof wall situation” mean

    • Debra,

Thank you for telling us how you really feel. That took courage to share what you were going through.

It took courage to come on to a forum that is dedicated to the stopping of horse racing and speak your mind. It is Stopping horse racing is why Patrick started this website and what he is dedicated to and why he spends so many hours collecting stats of horses that are dying all over the US in races and that is the tip of the Iceberg because many states will not even tell him how many are really dying . That is why many of us are here. to join Patrick in speaking out against the atrocities that are happening to horses at the race track and after they leave the race track.

There are people on this forum that have also trained and owned race horses for many years and after witnessing first hand the abuse that many horses went through at the race track they got out and some of them are now helping to rescue horses from being slaughtered and their goal is to enlighten as many people as they can about the rampant abuse that goes on. I hope some day you will do the same. I hope someday you will realize how dangerous racing is for horses every time they enter a race. Horses are our friends and our companions. They do not deserve to be treated the way they are being treated. Even though you loved your horse you still put him in danger and he died a terrible death as to so many others die every week at the race track. He could have lived til he was 30 instead he died at 3. It is a tragedy.

      Another question for you

      You said that :

“Stenson loved his job as “most” of these animals do because this is what they were bred for. If you could see some of them flying around the field as they do at the racetrack maybe I could change your mind about how you think of us and what we do to them.”

Tens of thousands of these race horses end up discarded and slaughtered every year and sold for food.
That is what the racing industry trainers and owners are doing to them by the tens of thousands. Sending them to kill buyers, who load them up in cattle trucks, where they are terrorized and traumatized and then brutally murdered for food.

I had the races on HRTV for many hours on Saturday and Sunday. I did not observe horses flying around the racetrack “loving” their job. I observed horses frantically running and running and running sometimes into one another, being whipped repeatedly by jockeys who were forcing them to push them selves harder and harder beyond their level of comfort or what was good for them (Practically every one of them running on Lasix) .

In playback races, I have observed horses crashing into one another, stumbling and falling and dying on the racetrack. I do not believe that was what they were bred to do. Nor do I think that anyone of them love being taken from their mother and being forced to race before their bodies are even formed. they are not fully formed until they are 6 years old. 40 years ago, they were not even racing 2 year olds.

      Two more questions for you.

Have you seen the videos of horses being brutally murdered by either being shot in the face repeatedly or beaten to death in slaughterhouses. Being stuneed and gettin back up over and over until they are dragged and pulled up by one leg. Many of them fully alive as they are strung up and their throats are slit. this is where tens of thousands of race horses are sent every year.

The racing industry, the journalists, the media and countless owners and trainers and Jockeys that are making their living from these horses stand by and do nothing to stop this horrific evil abuse and murder of these magnificent animals.

Have you see these slaughter videos on YOU Tube ? Any industry that would allow a horse , any horse, to be drugged, beaten and whipped repeatedly, electro shocked by jockeys, put into claiming race after claiming race (sold into slavery) and then sent to slaughter houses by the tens of thousands really needs to be shut down Immediately.

      2nd Question

Why did you give your 2 horses away in claiming races. Claiming races are sheer hell for horses to go through. Being passed from trainer to trainer to trainer. You said you got one of them back. What happened to the other one.

I love this quote by Albert Einstein.

I do not mean this directed at you but at those who drug, beat and abuse their horses for personal financial gain.

I do mean this directed at those owners and trainers that drug, abuse, whip (beat) and force their horses to run even when they are injured and they are tired. I do mean this to every trainer and owner that does not keep up with where their horses are going after they sell them and allow them to be sent to be slaughtered by the tens of thousands every year after making millions of dollars from forcing them to run at dangerous speeds under dangerous conditions over which they have no real control.

Albert Einstein said, “The indifference, callousness and contempt that so many people exhibit toward animals is evil first because it results in great suffering in animals, and second because it results in an incalculably great impoverishment of the human spirit.”

    • Debra, Stenson’s “job” was to enable race cards to be filled so that the betting public can provide the racing industry with billions of dollars in revenue. Yes, his “job” was to entertain the betting public and for what? A freaking $5.00 bet? His life was snuffed out when he wasn’t even close to being grown….remember that a horse isn’t developed, skeletally, until 6 years of age yet you were racing him at the age of three. I hope you understand why I question your ” love” for Stenson.

    • Debra – I am sorry for the comments made by Mary, Joy & Kathleen – I, myself have been jumped on when trying to defend racing – but no one wants to hear what we have to say. I sympathize with you on your loss of Stenson – we can only go forward and improve upon the industry when tragedies like these happen. I am truly sorry for your loss.

As for the rest of you – how dare everyone gang up on her after she as experienced a loss – these horses really are like family despite what you think. Just because she put them in a claiming race does not mean she doesn’t care.

      • Britto, let me be clear. You do NOT speak for me. You, and your delusional friends, are part of a gambling industry that destroys horses. Got it? Your constant babbling about these horses being like “family” is becoming old and tired. Anyone with minimal intelligence should know that you don’t treat a “family” member the way these horses are treated. The claiming game is only ONE disgusting part of racing. What about racing horses that are still just babies? What about the drugs? What about the joint injections to keep those “family” members running with the hope of making a buck? How dare you support an industry that destroys horses – how dare you!

Now, Britto, “we can only go forward and improve upon the industry”….your words, not mine. What are YOU doing to “improve upon the industry”? I’ve asked this question before but no one has ever answered the question so now I’m asking you, the racing “wannabe”. What are YOU doing to make things better for the horses? Answer the question!

Just like everyone else that posts here, I am incredibly busy, but please be sure to read this blog over the weekend. I think you, and your colleagues, might be interested in what I have to say.

      • “Delusional” – “minimal intelligence” – “babbling” – I’ve seen these words over & over from you and I’m the one that’s repetitive.

I am not a racing “wannabe” as you put it – but call it what you will. I am by no means an expert on racing, but I have been around quite a while to know a thing or two about it.

I have told you before how I have helped and will continue to help improve upon the industry – I can help by donating to organizations like CANTER & I have donated to Old Friends in the past and I plan to in the future. I can’t help the horses & the sport directly sue to my busy schedule with my own financial restraints, but I can help organizations that make sure that these horses have somewhere to go when their racing careers are over instead of a miserable death in a slaughterhouse – I hate the thought of these animals dying in a slaughterhouse as much as you do – but it does my heart good knowing that I am helping them out in some way. I am not all cold & callous like you think I am.

      • I was hoping that ignoring you, Britto, would encourage you to go away. You’ve been “jumped on” and we don’t want to “hear what [you’ve] got to say”….then maybe this is one place you can “move forward” from. You are seriously delusional…the more you spew, the clearer it becomes.

How dare WE?!?!…how dare YOU, Britto…to so flippantly minimize the DEATHS of racehorses every single day for wannabe’s like you. Twenty racehorses suffered and died at just one track in less than three months…TWENTY. Oh the poor owners of those DEAD horses??….my god but you’re as heartless as those owners! And you’re going to “move forward” and “improve on the industry”?…YOU? Hysterical if not so ludicrous.

I stand by what I said to Ms. Divitto. Beloved family members are not put up for sale, left unprotected to be purchased by the scum Divitto herself admits are in the racing industry. But since your racing friends do the same to their horse(s), you’ve got to tell yourself the lie, don’t you Britto. I don’t need to apologize to those who killed their enslaved horses. But you, Britto, should get busy acknowledging and apologizing to the memory of each horse that DIED for your entertainment. They weren’t simply “tragedies”, as you referred to them. They were enslaved, non-consenting, sentient creatures forced to perform for money and ego. How dare YOU treat them with such disrespect.

      • Britto5,

I did not jump on Debra. I asked her questions.

When you put your horse in a claiming race, you are giving them a potential death sentence so why did she do that ? i am waiting for her answer. How can you love someone and put their life in danger at the same time. this makes no sense to me. this to me is not love.

This website is about horse racing wrongs. Those who believe in stopping racing forever have a different definition of love than those who race horses and profess to love them. . We love horses and want to keep them save, alive and protected. Not use them for financial gain.

You had the courage to answer my questions.
I am waiting to see if she has the courage to answer my questions.

I totally agree with Joy who says

“But you, Britto, should get busy acknowledging and apologizing to the memory of each horse that DIED for your entertainment. They weren’t simply “tragedies”, as you referred to them. They were enslaved, non-consenting, sentient creatures forced to perform for money and ego. How dare YOU treat them with such disrespect.”

i also totally agree with Mary who says

“His life was snuffed out when he wasn’t even close to being grown….remember that a horse isn’t developed, skeletally, until 6 years of age yet you were racing him at the age of three. I hope you understand why I question your ” love” for Stenson.”

      • Britto, once again, you are delusional if you believe that the racing industry treats their horses like “family”. Yes, I do need to repeat myself over and over and over because you just don’t get it. Sad, but true. Then you babble that you have been “jumped on” when trying to defend racing. Why would anyone, with minimal intelligence, continue to come to a blog called Horseracing Wrongs in order to defend racing? I would never continually go to a blog called Horseracing Rights and post, repeatedly, that horseracing is a horrific “sport” that destroys horses. I might make a comment or two, but then I would refrain from continually trying to convince the pro-racing apologists that the horses in their industry are chewed up and spit out. Just to be clear…we have ALL listened to what you have to say but we have REJECTED those comments simply because they aren’t true. I have told you over and over and over that I spent YEARS on the backside of a low level track and I have saved, or helped to save, dozens of TB’s discarded from racing. Is that hard for you to comprehend? I have first hand knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes….first hand knowledge. Also, you seem to think that we are only “listeners” if we agree with what you say. Is that your definition of “listener” because, if it is, you need to pull a dictionary off your shelf.

Since you know a “thing or two” about racing, I will assume that you know that drugs, both legal and illegal, are rampant in racing. I will also assume that you know that “babies” are put into training, and are raced, years before they are skeletally developed. I will also assume that you know that horses are often raced injured, and, because of the great reporting that Patrick does here on HW, we all know that at least 25 horses a week die in the dirt and those are the ones we know about. Why doesn’t racing, Britto, want to give up the names of their dead? Do you think it has anything to do with trying to keep the “ugliness” of racing behind closed doors? Remember….racing is a marketing machine and racing deaths are a public nightmare for those that make their money on these horses. Now, I can only speak for myself, but I would NEVER put a “family” member into a “sport” (I use the term “sport” loosely) where those atrocities occur…NEVER….but, thankfully, you and I are very different.

I asked you a question…what are YOU doing to “improve” the industry? The answer…YOU donate to CANTER and Old Friends. How does that “improve” the industry? Do those donations stop the drugs or running injured horses? Do those donations stop the nurse mare foals from being born or do they stop the breakdowns on the track? Do they make winter racing a thing of the past? No, they do not. Do they stop the joint injections? Heck, no! You do NOTHING to “improve” the industry because your donations do NOT prevent any of the atrocities that I mentioned from happening. What you do is help the organizations, that have openings, take in a FEW of the horses that are discarded from racing. I know you have financial restraints, as do all of us, so why don’t you consider getting a second job and providing for a horse that has nowhere to go when its racing days are over? If you live in a house in a residential area, seek out a boarding stable. I have boarded horses for years and kept horses at my home, too. The easiest part of rescue is sitting on your butt and writing a check. The hard part is hooking up that truck and trailer and bringing a horse into your barn.

Finally, I agree with Joy. You, and your colleagues, need to get busy acknowledging each and every horse that DIED so that YOU and the pro-racing apologists could be entertained. How dare you turn against them so that you can placate Debra on Stenson’s death and then you have the audacity to speak for me, Joy and Kathleen. How dare you speak for us…how dare you minimize the deaths of these horses! They ALL deserve to be remembered and I thank Patrick for doing so.

      • Mary,

That was an excellent post to Britto5.!

Delusional is a word that has been used by you, Joy and Patrick and others to describe those who are pro racing.

Perhaps Britto5 does not understand what that word means. Here is the definition.

“A delusion is a belief held with strong conviction despite superior evidence to the contrary”

Patrick, Joy, you, Caroline and others have supplied “superior evidence” on this forum that horse racing is dangerous and abusive to horses. The stats show that thousands are dying each year connected to racing and by over breeding these horses so they can create the “perfect” racing machine is causing the death of tens of thousands of horses each year at the slaughterhouse so I must join you, Joy and Patrick in expressing the reality that BRitto5 who is pro racing and has been part of this forum and seen the facts on the abuse that is going on at the racetrack and after the racetrack must be “delusional”

        Brtto5 ,

you will never convince any of us that racing horses whose bodies are not physically mature enough to take this abuse without suffering some kind of damage is right. It is morally and spiritually wrong and sadly, I must come to the conclusion that you are really are delusional if you can read all the heartbreaking stats on this website and still think it is okay to force horses to race for their lives.

If someone puts their horse in a claiming race, then they do Not truly care about their horse and to think that they do is truly Delusional.

I found this quote on an anti bullfighting section of a website that is run by a friend of mine. http://www.sharkonline.org. She has been fighting against cruelty to horses at the rodeo and cruelty to bulls and horses in the bullfighting ring where they slit the vocal chords of the horses so they will not cry out in pain when the bulls who have been badly abused and and stabbed repeatedly and are out of their mind with being abused for days on end before the bullfight attack them in trying to get away from their abusers. Bullfighting is absolutely cruel and evil.

I love this quote on her website. I think Horse racing is also absolutely cruel and evil to horses.

      • Britto 5,

        Correction about Proud Mover.

She was sold to a kill buyer but she was rescued.

The mare’s life was saved by Beyond the Roses Equine, a racehorse rescue group whose members walk through the pens at auctions, flipping the lips of horses, in search of the tattoos – a series of letters and number inked on the soft sublabial flesh – applied to all thoroughbreds. After Proud Mover was identified, she was purchased from the kill buyer, and delivered to the organization’s farm in Emmett, Michigan, where she’ll remain until she’s adopted out to a family who will treat her as a pet, not an investment.

“She’s trying to acclimate to being a horse again,” said Gail Hirt, who owns and operates the farm. “She’s afraid of everything. We had her out in the pasture, and she wouldn’t even come to us.”

      • Here is a photo of Proud Mover at the auction house on Good Friday 2014

The former racehorse Proud Mover, left, was purchased at the Shipshewana auction, but later saved by a local rescue group. It’s unknown what became of the other horse. (Photo credit: Animals’ Angels.)

A group of teenagers from True Vine Equestrian Center, from Lawton, Michigan, huddled in prayer; they attend the Shipshewana auction every Good Friday to rescue a horse or two from slaughter. “We’re saving God’s creatures,” one said.

      • Britto5,

On the subject of many race horse owners treat their horses and on the subject of one specific race horse. Proud Mover.

Here is the story of Proud Mover, a 9 year old race horse who was sold by her owner to a kill buyer for $550.00
instead of selling her to a good family where she would be loved and taken care of.

Race horse owners who put their horses into claiming races run the risk of these horses ending up dead on the track or in slaughter houses. I believe that anyone who sends their horse to a slaughter house has hatred in their heart and anyone who sends their horse into a claiming race could not “love” their horse and consider them family because they are selling them into a life of slavery and abuse and potential death. Actions speak far louder than words.

“last year, over 150,000 American horses were shipped across the border to slaughterhouses in Canada or Mexico. An estimated 10,000 were thoroughbreds”

Here is the story of Proud Mover, a 9 year old race horse
        _____________________________________________________________________

        Article excerpts From
“Kentucky Derby to dinner plate: how to end the horsemeat pipeline”
        Written by Edward McClelland

“a nine-year-old mare named Proud Mover. A daughter of Proud Citizen, the runner-up in the 2002 Kentucky Derby, Proud Mover raced only five times. She never won. After her retirement from the racetrack, Proud Mover gave birth to three foals. Then she went barren.”

        According to many owners,
“A thoroughbred who can’t race and can’t breed isn’t worth much, so on Good Friday (2014), Proud Mover’s owner put her up for bid at the Shipshewana Auction. A weekly sale in Indiana’s Amish country, the auction attracts Amish looking for buggy horses, riders looking for trail horses … and slaughterhouse agents, looking for meat.”

There are actually two auctions in Shipshewana. There’s the main event, which takes place in an amphitheater where horses are led in on halters and described admiringly as “sound” and “good for riding”. Then there’s the loose horse auction, which takes place behind the barn, in the morning, before most of the crowd shows up. The loose horses, considered unfit for work or riding, are prodded or frightened out of their pens by wranglers, who slam the gates in the snouts of any animals attempting to follow. They sell for as little as $10, mostly to “kill buyers”, who load them into semi-sized trucks for their final journey, to Canadian or Mexican slaughterhouses, where they will be sliced up into steaks for Europeans with a taste for horsemeat.

Proud Mover was put up for bid in the loose horse auction, where a gabbling auctioneer pronounced her sold to a kill buyer, for $550. The old racemare was led away to a dim barn behind the auction hall, where she was penned up with dozens of other horses bound for the knacker’s.

Proud Mover, who passed through several owners before winding up at Shipshewana.

Even though the foal crop has been declining, due to a poor economy, fewer than half the thoroughbreds born each year will ever win a race: “They’re all trying to get the next Secretariat, and it doesn’t matter what happens to the ones that don’t work out. They just get rid of them.”

    • Hey, Debra, you say that Stenson loved his job because that is what he was bred to do. Do you think he loved being raced before he was fully developed? Do you think he loved the injections and the drugs? Do you think he loved being confined to a stall for 23 hours a day when at the track? Do you think your horses loved being put up for sale in claiming races? I think the answer to ALL those questions would be a resounding “no”.

Also, you seem to think that those of us who are against racing have never seen horses turned out in a field. Well, you are wrong about that. I have been around TB’s for well over 50 years and have brought many TB’s home after their racing days were over. After the first day or two, they settle down and are mostly content to just hang out in their pasture. Yes, they may canter for 15 seconds and trot a bit, but, most of the time, they are content to just relax.

      • I am not quite understanding why persons who are pro-racing are coming to Horse Racing Wrongs blog. It boggles my mind. They admit they are pro-racing, agree there are problems with their selected industry, want to compromise the wrongs and then say this site is one sided? What? Then my question is..what is your true agenda here? Is it that they are afraid that their ‘loved industry’ is in trouble, to which they have admitted. Or is it that they are looking for information to help fight their ‘hiccups’ in the horse racing industry. Usually ones beliefs are based on a few things. Their own experiences, what they are taught, and/or what the education, facts, or documents they obtain. For me, never owned or ridden a horse. Never attended a horseracing event. I do know of persons who have both raised and rescued horses to help with theraputic exercises. So I consider myself quite ‘fair’ in saying, this so called ‘sport’ of horse racing needs to end. I never had experience with drugs or smoked marijuana, or have been under the influence of a substance behind a wheel of a car, because the fact is, this isn’t legal, safe, or right, and that is proven. You have persons here like Mary and Joy, who have many years of experience on both sides of the fence, they have been there and done that, they are telling pro-racing it’s done! But for some reason, they don’t know what they are talking about. Or call them out of their names and try to insult them because truly, pro-racers have no other factual comeback. Response is ‘whatever’? Grammar has improved on sporatic posts of an individual, which is interesting. So they’re getting something out of it.
Patrick gives the data that is factually provided to him, by your own industry. It takes alot of time, effort, and expense, on his part and Horseracingwrongs.com, to stop the ongoing ‘wrongs’ and abuse of the animals that are being used for a buck or two. Prostituting a ‘family member’ to make it or break it. And when they can’t hang or make a profit, then it’s time to ‘sell out’. It’s a no brainer for me! But again, what is the ‘payoff’ of a pro-racing supporter coming to the Horseracingwrongs blog and try to convince, so it seems, that the Horseracing Wrongs blog is delusional. I wouldn’t be a Pittsburgh Steeler supporter trying to get premier seats in the Browns Dawg Pound! Makes no sense to me.
Again, horse racing supporters are fighting in the wrong arena. They are brave enough to come to the opposition Horseracing Wrongs, but have no guts to go to their family members and big wigs of their loved ‘sport’ to let them know their concerns . Sounds like to me, they are dazed, confused and in denial.
Mary, Joy, and Kathleen…Thank you for sharing your experiences, information, and insights. The great thing about the way they do it, is they do respond to the ‘pro-racing supporters, but I’m sure their factual impact makes them go away, but they comeback because they seem assured, they will get ‘noticed’. And whether it’s good or bad, they seem to feel accomplished. But really, it’s desperation and fear. That is my interpretation.

  3. So Ms. Divitto…you put family members up for sale?!?…like you do to your horses – your “family members”, you claim – by putting them in claiming races and leaving them unprotected, to be snatched up by one of the “terrible people” that YOU admit are in this industry? Save your exclamations of love for your equine “family members”…it’s utter BS. They are nothing more than machines to you…to be maintained in order to line your pockets and stroke your ego.

  4. It is also horse grazing and roughhousing in the pasture, horse trotting on a trail, horse jumping over a gate, horse running free on the prairie.
