5-year-old mare Silver Arch broke down in the stretch of Tuesday’s 7th race at Parx and is dead. Over a 2 1/2-year “career,” the Thoroughbred had three different trainers and three different owners; this was her first race under Michael Maker/Joe Sharp, having just been bought for $16,000 on April 17th. Prior to her death, Silver Arch earned some $118,000 for her connections. This is horseracing.

Silver Arch, I’m so sorry you and so many others die this way every day because people can get away with such cruelty.
Stop the insanity….stop betting on the horses. Win money without endangering the lives of racehorses…bet on baseball instead!
And that nomadic life of so many racehorses…so disturbing for an animal that craves routine. How disturbing, as well, that we’re confronted with another young life that was snuffed out so people could get their gambling fix, be entertained watching the “sport” they love, or have a job.
RIP Silver Arch, dead at only 5-years-old. You never had a voice.
