But even if death is not the ultimate result, the above are victims nonetheless, suffering painful injuries – in the case of the bleeders, pulmonary hemorrhage – so that some men may gamble, others chase pots of gold.   1. They are running these horses in horrendous heatwaves. There were 2 jockeys refusing to race in the heat. Just wondering if they were more afraid of the horse passing out beneath them rather than welfare of all concerned??

    • A horse actually did fall at the wire at Delaware park on Saturday due to probable heat exhaustion. They cancelled their races the rest of the day.. I was very surprised they did that.
